The strategic investment is expected to support L'Oréal's growth objectives in India, which is among the world's fastest-growing beauty markets, and expand the company's brand portfolio targeting local consumers.
Under the agreement, Innovist's founding team will continue to hold management positions in the company and maintain their partnership as minority shareholders. Innovist's brands will be integrated into L'Oréal's Consumer Products Division portfolio.
"Strengthening Our Presence in India"
L'Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus stated in his assessment of the investment that the agreement represents an important part of the company's growth strategy in India.
Hieronimus said L'Oréal aims to combine its global expertise with Innovist's science-based product development approach and local consumer insights to create new opportunities in India's beauty market.
Targeting Digital-Focused Consumers
Fabrice Megarbane, Head of L'Oréal's Consumer Products Division, emphasized that India is one of the world's most dynamic beauty markets and described the collaboration as a significant turning point for the company.
Jacques Lebel noted that the partnership will bring the company closer to a new generation of digitally-focused Indian consumers.
Science and Innovation Converge
Innovist Founder and CEO Rohit Chawla stated that the partnership brings together both companies' approaches to science, innovation and consumer focus.
Vimal Bhola, Chief Research Scientist and Founding Partner at Innovist, said that the scientific approach forms the foundation of the company's culture, and emphasized that the shared vision with L'Oréal is one of the most important aspects of the collaboration.
One of India's Rising Personal Care Players
Founded in 2019 by Rohit Chawla, Sifat Khurana and Vimal Bhola, Innovist stands out for its science-based formulations, transparent ingredient policy and digital-first business model.
The company owns brands such as Bare Anatomy and Chemist at Play, which operate in hair and skin care categories, and is considered one of India's rapidly growing personal care companies.
Transaction Expected to Close in Coming Months
Following receipt of required regulatory approvals, L'Oréal is expected to begin consolidating Innovist's financial results. The agreement also grants L'Oréal the right to acquire the company's remaining minority stakes in the future.
