ICBA 2026 to Be Held in Istanbul Under Yeşilay's Leadership
Türkiye Yeşilay Cemiyeti, which has taken a leading role nationally and internationally with 105 years of accumulated experience in the fight against addiction, is preparing to host an important scientific event. The 11th International Conference on Behavioral Addictions (ICBA) will be held under the leadership of Yeşilay at Boğaziçi University from 24 to 26 August 2026.
With its 105 years of experience in combating addictions, Turkey Yeşilay Society, which plays a pioneering role nationally and internationally, is preparing to host an important scientific organization. The 11th International Conference on Behavioral Addictions (ICBA) will take place under Yeşilay's leadership at Boğaziçi University between 24–26 August 2026.
Yeşilay had applied to the International Society for Research on Behavioral Addictions (ISSBA) for ICBA, which focuses on different types of behavioral addictions such as internet, gambling, shopping and eating disorders, to be held in Istanbul. Following two years of intensive lobbying efforts, the organizing committee gave a positive assessment, and the decision was made to hold this important event in Turkey.
Istanbul, Global Meeting Point
Since 2013, ICBA has brought together academics, psychologists, health professionals and policymakers from around the world. The hosting of the 11th conference in Istanbul will increase Turkey's international visibility in the field of combating addictions and contribute to scientific cooperation.
Strong Participation from Yeşilay Scientific Board at ICBA 2025
Members of the Yeşilay Scientific Board participated actively in the ICBA 2025 Conference held in Nantes, France on 7–9 July this year. Prof. Dr. Eren Murat Dinçer, Dr. Şaziye Senem Başgül and Dr. Merih Altuntaş delivered presentations within the scope of the conference. Additionally, meetings were held with the ICBA central organizing team and the Nantes local committee, enabling the sharing of experience and best practices.
During the conference, posters introducing Yeşilay Consultation Centers (YEDAM) were displayed, and new collaboration opportunities were evaluated with academics and researchers from various countries, particularly Germany and Italy.
At the closing ceremony, it was officially announced that ICBA 2026 will be held in Istanbul, and a promotional video prepared for this special event was shown.
With ICBA 2026, Yeşilay aims to bring Turkey's scientific strength in combating addictions to the world and to further strengthen global cooperation.
