Weber Türkiye's New Factory in Diyarbakır Opens

Weber Turkey, the building materials division of Saint-Gobain, inaugurated its 7th factory in Diyarbakır during a ceremony hosted by Hady Nassif, CEO of Saint-Gobain Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, and Aykut Aydoğan, CEO of Saint-Gobain Turkey.

The new factory, built on a total area of 25,000 m² with a closed space of 6,200 m², will have an initial annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes. At the Diyarbakır facility, Weber will produce adhesive mortars, joint fillers, cement-based renders, coating systems and flooring systems from its broad product portfolio. This new investment brings Weber closer to customers in the Southeast Anatolia region, enabling faster and more effective responses to market needs and strengthening the company's position in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu said that Diyarbakır was somewhat late in its industrialisation journey but would close this gap with its dynamic population and strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Governor Zorluoğlu said: "Today we are putting into service a very important factory and facility. New investments are coming to Diyarbakır every passing day. This means employment, investment, production and exports for the city; it means increased prosperity for Diyarbakır. The facility we inaugurated today is a very important step in this regard. We see this as a beginning for Diyarbakır. In the coming years, we expect much larger investments from Saint-Gobain Weber in Diyarbakır. As the provincial administration, we want to express that we will provide all kinds of strong support to you as we do to all our investors. Hopefully, this facility will make significant contributions to Diyarbakır's production, exports and employment."

Saint-Gobain Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East CEO Hady Nassif emphasised once more during the ceremony the notable contribution Turkey has made to the overall growth of the Saint-Gobain Group:

"Since 2020, the Group has implemented a series of strategic projects. Mergers, acquisitions and capacity increases are among these projects. Industrial investments by Saint-Gobain aim in particular to meet local market needs, especially in the eastern part of the country, while at the same time opening doors to promising export activities. In this way, Turkey's unique position between continents and seas and the added value it offers to world trade are being leveraged."

In his opening remarks, Saint-Gobain Turkey CEO Aykut Aydoğan emphasised that they prioritise their responsibilities to society and the environment beyond operational processes.

"With each investment, we aim to become more competitive and improve our service quality by being closer to our customers in the region," he said. Aydoğan continued: "We carry out our production taking into account sustainability principles and performance criteria. By offering innovative solutions to the market, we are becoming a reference point in the construction sector's sustainability transformation and we operate with a sense of responsibility towards the environment and society in every area where we are active. Thanks to the solar panel investment we plan to implement, we will be able to meet a large portion of our energy needs with lower carbon emissions. This is one of our exemplary approaches. Moreover, our facility will contribute to the local economy by creating direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region."

Operating in Turkey since 1998, Saint-Gobain currently operates 21 production facilities across the country and holds a leading position in insulation, gypsum and building chemicals. Saint-Gobain employs approximately 2,050 people in Turkey.

Weber's new factory is aligned with the "Grow and Impact" strategy, which aims to strengthen the Saint-Gobain Group's leadership, enrich its range of light and sustainable construction solutions and accelerate its growth.
