Zorlu Enerji Wins Three Awards at Communitas Awards

Zorlu Enerji, which continues to implement projects that receive recognition at national and international platforms through initiatives that add value to society and the environment, won three awards at Communitas Awards 2024.

Zorlu Enerji's "Lesson Support Project", "ZExperience (Zorlu Enerji Experience) Program" and "Net Zero Roadmap" project were awarded at Communitas Awards in the "Excellence" Category in the "Corporate Community Service / Philanthropy", "Organization / Community Service" and "Ethics and Environmental Responsibility / Sustainability" branches.

In line with its Smart Life 2030 vision and pursuing its activities with the goal of a sustainable future, Zorlu Enerji earned three awards from Communitas Awards through projects based on both social and environmental responsibility. At Communitas Awards, which ranks among the globally most respected award organizations in the social responsibility world, Zorlu Enerji was recognized in the "Excellence" category with its "Lesson Support Project" supporting equal opportunity in education, "ZExperience Program" supporting the professional and personal development of young people, and "Net Zero Roadmap" project aimed at reducing carbon emissions, in the branches of "Corporate Community Service / Philanthropy", "Organization / Community Service" and "Ethics and Environmental Responsibility / Sustainability".

We are developing solutions to meet the needs of the future
Funda Küçükosmanoğlu, Marketing and Corporate Communications Director at Zorlu Enerji, noting that Zorlu Enerji's portfolio and solutions focused on decarbonization and future technologies lead the sector's transformation centered on climate crisis, digitalization, automation and electrification, stated: "We believe that sustainable development is possible through value-creating business and projects. As Zorlu Enerji, we are developing solutions to address tomorrow's needs today and acting with a benefit-oriented approach. In this direction, our Lesson Support Project, which we implemented in cooperation with the School Support Association with a sustainable society consciousness, was deemed worthy of the 'Corporate Community Service / Philanthropy' award in the 'Excellence' category at Communitas Awards. We aim to support students' academic and personal development by ensuring they have equal access to education."

We support young people's personal and professional development
Noting that they launched the ZExperience Program to support university students' personal and professional development, Küçükosmanoğlu stated: "The ZExperience Program, which we implemented to equip young people with personal development and competencies during and after their educational lives, is one of our valued projects that won an award at Communitas Awards. In this project, we work together with the imece platform, of which Zorlu Holding is a founding partner and which supports the development of Turkey's social innovation ecosystem.

Within the scope of the project, we brought together esteemed academics from respected academic institutions, Zorlu Enerji employees who are experts in their fields and volunteer colleagues within Zorlu Group's corporate volunteering program Kıvılcımlar Movement ('Sparks Movement') and Zorlu Enerji scholarship holders, creating an opportunity to share not only theoretical knowledge but also best practices from business life. Design thinking, project development and management, global objectives and sustainability, teamwork, and idea and project development were the areas where students made the most progress. These two educational projects of ours directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals' 'Quality Education' (Goal 4) and 'Reduced Inequalities' (Goal 10)," he continued:

"We are aware that we must minimize our environmental impact. For this purpose, by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) at global scale, we became the first energy company in Turkey to make this commitment and had our 2040 net zero emissions target approved. We calculate and verify the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions resulting from our operations. Our project directly contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals' 'Affordable and Clean Energy' (Goal 7), 'Climate Action' (Goal 13) and 'Life on Land' (Goal 15). With our Net Zero Roadmap, which we implemented in this context and which was recognized with an award at Communitas Awards, we strive to set an example for all our stakeholders. These awards we have received inspire us in achieving the targets we have set."

Noting that Zorlu Enerji plays a leading role in the conservation of natural resources and ensuring environmental sustainability, Küçükosmanoğlu stated: "In this context, with the innovative projects and practices we implemented, we were recognized with a total of 9 awards in 2024.
