Boehringer Ingelheim and Gubra Enter Second Partnership to Combat Obesity

Boehringer Ingelheim and Gubra announced they have entered into a second collaboration and signed a licensing agreement to develop new polyagonist peptides for obesity treatment. The collaboration will combine Gubra's established expertise in the design, synthesis, pharmaceutical properties and in vivo testing of therapeutic peptides with Boehringer Ingelheim's expertise in R&D of innovative medicines for cardiometabolic diseases. This second joint R&D programme between Boehringer Ingelheim and Gubra aims to advance obesity research to a higher level since the first collaboration began in 2017 and to contribute to Boehringer Ingelheim's expanding pipeline of research-stage products in the obesity field. Dr. Clive R. Wood, Senior Vice President Discovery Research at Boehringer Ingelheim, said he looked forward to advancing the ongoing collaboration with Gubra, adding: "We hope these programmes will help us provide obesity patients with the new treatment options they urgently need." Boehringer Ingelheim has a portfolio of medicines produced for thromboembolic diseases, Type 2 diabetes, acute stroke, myocardial infarction, hypertension and the reduction of cardiovascular death risk.
