BASF Launches Innovation Center in Turkey
BASF has placed great emphasis on innovation since its founding. Globally, BASF invested approximately EUR 2 billion in R&D activities in 2018 alone and registered 900 new patents.
BASF, which supplies chemical products and solutions to many industrial sectors in Turkey, will consolidate its application laboratories and add new ones under the roof of the BASF Innovation Center.
The center, which will become operational at the Teknopark Istanbul campus, will enable BASF to develop customized solutions for its local customers while taking into account the characteristics of Turkey's geography.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the center, planned to become operational in the first quarter of 2020, BASF Turkey General Manager Rami Atikoğlu said: "At our Innovation Center, we will offer customized solutions together with our customers.
This center is proof of our confidence in both our country and our business partners."
Under the BASF Turkey Innovation Center, new solutions, developments and customer-focused work will be carried out in the areas of Nutrition, Agricultural Solutions, Home Care and Industrial Cleaning, Personal Care and Hygiene, Paints and Coatings, Engineering Plastics and Polyurethane, and Automotive Refinish Coatings.
With the Innovation Center, BASF also aims to transition to R&D center status in Turkey and contribute to university-industry cooperation together with universities, academics and students. Additionally, the BASF Innovation Center building, for which approximately 3,500 m2 of land has been allocated by Teknopark Istanbul, will consist of laboratories, offices and seminar areas and, upon completion, will hold LEED Gold Certification.
