ZÜCDER takes action to reach its target of $7 billion
The umbrella association of the houseware sector, Züccaciyeciler Derneği (ZÜCDER), is planning to focus on the "Made in Türkiye" brand in line with its USD 7 billion export target and is placing emphasis on e-exports.
To maintain strong sales channels, ZÜCDER has prioritized B2B organizations and trade fairs both domestically and internationally. In this regard, ZÜCDER will hold the 13th edition of the "International Houseware and Kitchen Equipment Manufacturer-Brand Summit," which contributes 20 percent annually to exports, from 16-19 May at Pine Beach Belek Antalya.
The houseware sector, which achieved USD 6.1 billion in exports in 2023 and delivered approximately USD 5 billion in trade surplus, achieving significant success, is aiming for an active 2024 by placing emphasis on e-exports as well as through B2B organizations and trade fairs to boost exports.
The sector's largest representative, ZÜCDER, which has a USD 7 billion export target for 2024, has been organizing the "International Houseware and Kitchen Equipment Manufacturer-Brand Summit" for 13 years to strengthen the e-export network and maintain domestic and international sales.
ZÜCDER officials, providing information about the organization that will take place for the first time between 16-19 May at Pine Beach Belek Antalya this year, said: "The summits we organize contribute 20 percent annually to our exports. Our summits generally bring together over 120 domestic and foreign purchasing companies from 50 countries including Germany, Kuwait, Egypt, USA, Russia, Argentina, conducting approximately 5,000 meetings.
We rank 8th among the world's largest exporting countries. We increased our per-kilogram exports from USD 3.38 to USD 3.75. Looking at the countries to which we export the most, we conduct 58 percent of our exports to EU countries. The United Kingdom, Germany and France are the top 3 countries to which we export the most," the officials said.
Türkiye in an advantageous position
The houseware sector, positioned as Türkiye's sector with the largest trade surplus, not only creates employment for over 200,000 people. It also exports to approximately 200 countries, promoting the "Made in Türkiye" brand. In this respect, Türkiye ranks among the world's top 10 exporting countries while the sector's size has reached USD 12 billion. Underlining that Türkiye has strengthened in exports again despite China's rapid return to the market and in the face of rising freight rates and events in the Red Sea, ZÜCDER stated: "Turkish products are in a good position in terms of branding and product quality. Our position in Europe demonstrates the quality and perception of Turkish products. We have the world's second largest company in glass, the world's fifth largest company. We have very important companies in porcelain, steel, and plastics. These companies continue to grow every year by developing themselves with significant investments. In the face of rising freight rates and with the strength of our location, there are no obstacles in front of us in reaching our export targets. Our members are especially making investments in e-exports," adding that they participate in 2 trade fairs, 2 manufacturer-brand meetings and B2B meetings in 6 countries to increase exports, one of which is among the world's largest trade fairs in the sector.Advertisement
