Hydrogen Technologies Discussed at TÜRKÇİMENTO Webinar

Innovative solutions for decarbonization in the cement sector were addressed at the first event of a webinar series launched by TÜRKÇIMENTO. The webinar titled "Hydrogen Value Chain in the Cement Sector and Sectoral Contact Points" was held on 12 March 2026 with strong participation from sector representatives.

At the event attended by approximately 190 sector officials, alternative technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions from cement production were evaluated from a comprehensive perspective. Energy efficiency applications, carbon capture and storage solutions, and hydrogen technologies were among the highlighted topics.

Hydrogen, a critical alternative in emission reduction
In the assessments made during the webinar, hydrogen was emphasized as an important alternative particularly in reducing fuel-derived emissions. Potential application areas of hydrogen in cement production processes and its contribution to sectoral transformation were discussed in detail.

Additionally, attention was drawn to hydrogen's potential to play a critical role not only as a fuel, but also in processes where carbon is converted into different products following carbon capture.

CCUS technologies and cost factor
Another highlighted topic at the event was carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies. While these technologies were noted to offer high potential in emission reduction, investment costs were pointed out as continuing to be an important evaluation criterion for the sector.

Sectoral knowledge sharing strengthened
The webinar, which was delivered with a presentation by Tuğba Onur Dalgöğüsoğlu speaking on behalf of HyVise, was moderated by Ebru Sipahioğlu, Chief Technology Officer at Limak Çimento.

The webinar organized by TÜRKÇIMENTO stood out as an important platform that raised awareness regarding hydrogen's role in the cement sector while strengthening knowledge sharing among sector stakeholders.
