TİM President İsmail Gülle Speaks at Design Week Turkey 2019 Launch Meeting
Speaking at the launch meeting for Design Week Turkey 2019 (Turkey Design Week), which has made significant contributions to fostering a design culture in Turkey and introducing Turkish designers to the world, TİM President İsmail Gülle said: "We are carrying out important work to introduce our young Turkish designers to the world and familiarize them with exports. We will launch a new project that will make an important contribution to our country's branding journey. Within this scope, we will organize an international event that will bring together all our activities related to fashion and design. Through this project, where design and fashion will be discussed throughout the year, we will establish Istanbul as a regional design hub of Eurasia at an international level, and transform Istanbul into a global design center where industrial, visual, and fashion design agencies will open offices." he said. The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), which is the sole representative of 85,000 goods and 5,000 services exporters, is organizing Design Week Turkey for the 4th time this year in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, to develop design culture, raise awareness about the power of design, introduce Turkish designers to the world and increase the value that design adds to industry. The event will be held at the Haliç Convention Center on 14-17 November. With the support of ING Turkey, Ford Otosan and Turkish Airlines, the event carrying the main theme "Beyond Design" will bring together industrialists, academics and students across more than 100 speakers and over 150 designers, 34 panels and conferences, and 53 exhibitions and workshop sessions.Noting that we are living through a transformation driven by global trends in every aspect of our lives, from social life to production and exports, İsmail Gülle continued his remarks as follows: "Clinging to standards, continuing today what was done yesterday, and planning the future with existing methods is no longer sufficient for success.
We are in the era of individuals and institutions that have internalized dynamism, mastered all kinds of technological developments, and carefully observe the direction the world is heading. In particular, the digital and technological transformation that forms the pillars of the fourth industrial revolution, combined with the social integration of the millennial generation, has fundamentally shaken and restructured many phenomena. We see the most important consequences of this situation in economic and commercial life. Making the most useful, highest quality product alone no longer makes you competitive. Being fast, producing aesthetically pleasing products, manufacturing according to customer demands are essential to staying competitive. This is not just a matter for the manufacturing industry but for all our complementary sectors."With this understanding, preparing an extraordinary program with sessions covering topics from game design to design-focused education systems, from jewelry design to sustainable brands, industrial products, from restaurant design to urban design and historical heritage,
İsmail Gülle said: "Design is one of the most important factors that determines the quality of our lives in many ways. It is probably not wrong to say that design adds a style, a purpose, a soul to matter. For this reason, we consider Design Week Turkey to be extremely important for spreading design culture in our country. With Design Week Turkey, we want to increase success stories and motivate our new designers to take action. We believe that designers are discoverers who reveal the desire to create and explore within all of us. By supporting all creative ideas, we are making every effort to spread the necessary ecosystem for designer minds throughout the country. We always need new ideas. With every new idea, we take one more step towards the future. Growing each year by welcoming more people is, organizationally, an excellent source of motivation for making our Istanbul, one of the world's leading metropolises, a design capital. Design Week Turkey, which has welcomed more than 120,000 visitors to date, reaching more people with each passing year is the greatest source of motivation for us. We expect Design Week Turkey, which welcomed over 52,000 visitors over 3 days last year, to reach 60,000 visitors this year." he said.Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards Will Find Their Winners for the 8th Time
