Sabancı Holding, which shapes its digital roadmap with the vision of "becoming a developer of tomorrow's disruptive technologies," has invested in the US-based Quera company through its corporate venture capital fund Sabancı Ventures. Quera, which operates in the field of quantum computing—identified as one of the highest-impact business sectors in transforming the future of technology—ranks among the leading companies in its sector.
Founded by World-Renowned Academics at Harvard and MIT
Quera, founded by world-renowned academics and scientists at Harvard and MIT, also operates the world's largest publicly accessible quantum computer. In its latest funding round, which attracted significant interest from global technology leaders, Quera secured USD 230 million in financing. Alongside Sabancı Ventures, important new investors including Google, which led the funding round, as well as SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Valor Equity Partners participated in the round.
In his assessment of the matter, Gökhan Eyigün, Head of Strategy and Business Development at Sabancı Holding, stated: "Within the scope of our vision to create a Sabancı Group that rapidly adapts to the changing global economy, continuously reinvents itself, grows and strengthens, one of the important components of our strategy is to support our 'new economy' focused growth strategy by investing in the companies of the future. Through Sabancı Ventures, established as Sabancı Holding's Corporate Venture Capital Fund in 2020, we make minority investments in companies that have reached a certain stage in our strategic focus areas.
Our aim here is both to contribute to the growth of the ventures we invest in and to provide our existing companies with access to tomorrow's disruptive technologies. Our investment in Quera is a strong reflection of this vision. Together with Quera, we have increased the number of companies in which we have invested through Sabancı Ventures to 15. Going forward, we will continue to evaluate investment opportunities that align with our strategy and that we believe will contribute to our Group Promise and vision," he said.
