Investment Pace Accelerates in Wind and Solar Projects
In the field of renewable energy, wind projects stand out in terms of the speed at which the project pipeline is converted into investment and commissioning performance. Wind projects that have completed their permitting processes and have been in preparation for a long time are, in particular, expected to materialize on the ground as of 2026. In the sector, time management in investment processes and discipline in field implementation are seen to have become decisive factors.
In renewable energy, wind projects stand out in terms of converting project stock into investments, the pace of investment transformation and deployment performance. It is expected that wind projects in particular that have completed permitting processes and have been under preparation for a long time will materialize in the field as of 2026. The sector is seeing time management in investment processes and implementation discipline in the field become determining factors.
2025 and the first quarter of 2026 stand out as one of the most constructive periods on record in terms of improvements in permitting timelines. Through past regulatory and simplification steps, it may become possible to reduce the average 5.4-year period currently needed to transition to investment to 15–18 months in the medium term.
ARI-ES Enerji: 2035 targets set the investment pace
ARI-ES Enerji General Manager Ebru Arıcı emphasizes that time management in investment processes and field implementation quality are critical in line with Turkey's targets of reaching a total installed capacity of 120,000 MW in wind and solar energy by 2035. Arıcı notes that bringing investments online without loss of momentum is important in terms of preserving sector strength and investor appetite.
ARI-ES Enerji specializes in particular in transferring projects that have completed permitting to the field, deployment management and implementation quality. The company is actively conducting project development processes for its 40,000 MW renewable energy portfolio (25% of which is 10,000 MW) dedicated to wind projects. The field experience gained in the portfolio's 25,000 MW wind energy segment is expected to contribute as of 2026 to faster and more predictable deployment of investments.
Not a single megawatt can be lost
Arıcı stressed the critical importance of project backlog translating into field results in wind energy, saying:
"Turkey has built up significant project backlog in wind energy. Today, approximately 15,000 MW of installed capacity points to a robust ecosystem. But the real measure of this backlog is how quickly and soundly projects are transferred to the field. Shortening the time to investment and ensuring that not a single megawatt is lost in the field are critical for the sector."
2035 targets put speed and quality at the forefront
Turkey's target of reaching 120,000 MW of installed capacity in wind and solar energy by 2035 requires an average of 7,500–8,000 MW of new capacity to be deployed annually. Arıcı points out that a transformation of this scale is possible not solely through developing new projects, but through effective management of investment processes and improved implementation quality in the field. In the coming period, speed, time management and deployment performance will be among the sector's main agenda items.
