Roche Maintains Growth Trend in First Half of the Year
Roche, one of the biotechnology companies distinguished by scientific knowledge accumulation, R&D strength and strategic investments, announced its financial results for the first half of 2019.
The company's group sales increased 9% in constant currencies compared to the previous year, reaching CHF 30.5 billion. While the Pharmaceuticals Division sales rose 10% to CHF 24.2 billion, the Diagnostics Division sales increased 2% to CHF 6.3 billion.
Roche Group Chief Executive Officer Severin Schwan stated: "In the first six months of 2019, we achieved very strong results as a group. We are very pleased with the high demand for innovative treatments offered by our pharmaceuticals unit and the accelerated approvals we received from health authorities for two new therapies that represent important treatment options in cancer care.
Additionally, the progress of our diagnostics unit in the immunodiagnostics area and especially the strong growth spreading across general operations in the second quarter, contributed to this success. The performance we demonstrated in the first half means we will also improve our outlook for the full year 2019." he added.
