Pfizer Türkiye Forms Partnership to Strengthen Turkey's Position in Clinical Research

Pfizer Türkiye, operating with the understanding that “science will win,” continues to build a bridge between global scientific knowledge and Turkey's research ecosystem. In line with this vision, the cooperation protocol signed with Ankara Bilkent City Hospital aims to strengthen collaboration in the field of clinical research and advance Turkey's position in international research.

Operating under the principle that "science will win," Pfizer Turkey continues to build bridges between global scientific expertise and Turkey's research ecosystem. In line with this vision, the cooperation protocol signed with Ankara Bilkent City Hospital aims to strengthen collaborations in clinical research and advance Turkey's position in international studies.

Under the signed protocol, scientific knowledge sharing, education and joint project development are planned across different therapeutic areas within the framework of current legislation. This collaboration is intended to contribute to conducting clinical research processes in a more effective, quality and sustainable manner, while also increasing patient access to innovative treatments.

Clinical research and local production contributing to global goals
Metin Hullu, Country President of Pfizer Turkey, emphasized in his evaluation of the collaboration that the company has long been transferring global knowledge accumulation to Turkey and contributing to scientific development. Hullu noted that Pfizer reached hundreds of millions of patients worldwide in 2025 alone and that a significant portion of production volume in Turkey is carried out locally.

Hullu stated that they aim to strengthen Turkey's position in the global science and innovation ecosystem, highlighting the importance of public and private sector cooperation in healthcare, and noting that the collaboration realized with Ankara Bilkent City Hospital carries strategic value.

Turkey's rising potential in clinical research
Dr. Gökhan Duman, Senior Regional Director of Pfizer Clinical Research, noted that clinical research both provides patients access to innovative treatments and strengthens the scientific research environment.

Duman stated that Turkey ranks among the top 20 countries in the world in the number of industry-sponsored clinical trials, and that the growth in this field is noteworthy. He reported that Pfizer Turkey invested TRY 1.7 billion in clinical research in 2025. He also noted that over 3,500 researchers have been trained since 2000, emphasizing that investments in this area will continue.

Strong infrastructure, high capacity
Doç. Dr. Mehmet Köş, Coordinating Deputy Chief Physician at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, stated that Turkey has significant potential for clinical research thanks to its strong healthcare infrastructure and broad patient access.

Köş noted that the hospital is one of Turkey's largest healthcare centers with high bed capacity, extensive physical space and heavy patient traffic, and emphasized that this infrastructure provides important opportunities for clinical research. He drew attention to how the collaboration will accelerate patient access to innovative treatments.

Early access opportunity for patients
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Nahit Şendur, Medical Oncology Administrative and Training Responsible at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, stated that clinical research offers a critical opportunity for patients.

Şendur noted that through clinical research, particularly in oncology and many other fields, patients gain earlier access to innovative treatments. He said that this collaboration will provide significant contributions to both scientific development and patient experience.
