Liquid and Bulk Product Carriers Establish Association Under the Name LİKİTDER
LİKİTDER (Association of Liquid and Bulk Product Transport Operators), established through the collaboration of leading transport companies in the liquid transport sector, was introduced to the public at a meeting held. At the meeting, it was announced that LİKİTDER commenced operations on 27 October 2023 under the leadership of 25 founding member companies that provide logistics services by transporting liquid and bulk products via tanker/tank container.
The chemical industry ranks as the country's second-largest exporting sector. In this context, the sector that provides international-level logistics services to the chemical industry plays an extremely important role. LİKİTDER carries the mission of exchanging views on sectoral issues among member companies, improving business processes, organizing research activities and strengthening international sectoral cooperation.
LİKİTDER Board of Directors Chairman Yusuf Tetik stated in his opening remarks that they embarked on this initiative with the aim of discussing the sector's problems, contributing to forthcoming regulations, organizing training programmes and establishing standards.
Tetik said, "In our country, we have many distinguished associations related to our logistics sector, and their presence provides very serious contributions to our sector. I would first like to emphasize that we are neither rivals nor alternatives to any association, and we will cooperate with all of them."
Pointing out that LİKİTDER, unlike other associations, was established according to product group and transport type, and that its members consist of companies in this profile, Tetik continued: "Undoubtedly, NGOs and associations are established to fulfil certain purposes and functions, develop useful services to society, generate social benefit and fill important gaps. As liquid and bulk product transport operators who hold a special place within the logistics sector, we conduct work that requires more technical knowledge and experience. It is at this point that LİKİTDER's aim is to discuss the problems of our line of business, contribute to forthcoming regulations, organize training programmes and establish standards."
LİKİTDER Board Member Damla Alışan said, "As people who have invested effort in this sector, when we initiated this association effort, our aim was to do the work we do better and to make the standards applied in Europe more widespread in our country. We have responsibilities towards the environment in which we operate; we must do the work we do with consideration for this.
However, it is not enough for only one of us to do this or for a few companies to lead the way on this issue. If we all do this together, if we bring these standards to where they should be, if we can collectively take the actions necessary on health, safety and environment, then not only will the work we do become safer, but we will also leave a more liveable world for future generations. This was clearly our perspective when we embarked on this path."
LİKİTDER operates with the vision of bringing the liquid transport sector to international standards in terms of equipment, personnel and standards; ensuring communication and coordination between the sector and other associations and the public; creating standards, documents, training and written literature for the sector; and conducting work on sustainability, environmental protection and the continuity of ecological balance.
Legal entities that are bulk liquid transport equipment owners, tank container operators and agents may become members of LİKİTDER. Membership applications from companies established for this purpose as stipulated in the association's by-laws are accepted at LİKİTDER's Headquarters located at Maltepe ETS PLAZA.
