Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Faculty of Science Chemistry Department's "Campus Chemistry" facility generated TRY 3 million in revenue from product sales in 2022.
OMÜ Faculty of Science Dean Prof. Dr. Tevfik Özen made the following comments on the matter:
"We have a 2,000 square-metre production and storage area in the basement of our faculty building. We can meet these needs quickly as required," he said.
Target revenue of 4 million
Özen stated that they reached TRY 3 million in revenue in 2022, saying "Our target for 2023 is to increase our revenue to 4 million lira." Pointing out that production is carried out by Chemistry Department faculty members and students, Özen explained that the products include cologne, disinfectants, detergents, and surface cleaners.Özen noted that they supply their products to faculties, public institutions and some private sector companies, stating:
"We use all the facility's income entirely for our faculty. We continue to develop our facility every day. Our financial accumulation, particularly in the renewal of our laboratories in the faculty on our campus, and in promptly meeting every type of educational material need that students may have, positions Campus Chemistry as a dynamic resource. We serve to provide departments with the materials they need."Production with 10 staff members
Faculty of Science Chemistry Department faculty member and Campus Chemistry Production Manager Prof. Dr. Erbil Ağar stated that they conduct production with 10 people, comprising 6 students, 2 academics, and 2 employees. Emphasizing that Campus Chemistry produces between 3 and 5 tons per month, Ağar expressed: "In addition to faculty members, students also work half-time. We produce quite high-quality and inexpensive products according to market conditions. All income is spent on the university's needs. In the future, we want to develop our product range by producing different products," he said. Source - (AA)Advertisement
