Swiss Aviation Giant to Build New Hangar in Bodrum

AMAC Aerospace is building a new hangar at Milas-Bodrum Airport and will open its third facility in Turkey. A USD 100 million investment is planned for the hangar, which is scheduled for completion in 2026. AMAC Aerospace Chief Executive Officer Kadri Muhiddin stated that this investment will be an important step for Turkey's aviation sector and will strengthen the company's market leadership.

Swiss AMAC Aerospace, a leading global aviation company providing aircraft maintenance and repair services as well as VIP aircraft completion and refurbishment, continues its investments in Turkey. Having previously expanded its Turkey operations through hangars in Istanbul and Bodrum, the company is preparing to contribute to its global aviation market growth targets with a new 32,000 square metre site at Milas-Bodrum Airport. The new facility, scheduled to be operational in 2026, is expected to help establish Bodrum as one of the region's important aircraft maintenance and repair centres. 

Over 300 new jobs to be created

The new hangar is planned to be designed with a configuration suitable for three wide-body aircraft, while also providing flexibility for narrow-body aircraft, aiming to offer maintenance and repair services for both types of aircraft. The company, which employs 1,500 people across 8 different facilities worldwide and 180 employees in Turkey, will create more than 300 new jobs in Turkey with this new investment.

We aim to make Turkey a regional aircraft maintenance hub

Previously selected as Europe's aerospace CEO of the year and featured among the 5 most important business leaders of the year by The Business Worldwide in 2024, AMAC Aerospace Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kadri Muhiddin is a business leader recognised worldwide in aviation for his leadership skills and the company's vision. Kadri Muhiddin commented on the new hangar plans in Bodrum: "Currently, we have a total hangar area of 4,930 square metres in Istanbul and Bodrum. We have capacity suitable for many aircraft platforms ranging from mid-size jets such as Dassault and Pilatus to wide-body aircraft such as Airbus A330 or Boeing B777. In 2024, we serviced a total of 80 aircraft, including approximately 20 mixed aircraft consisting of wide-body commercial and private aircraft in Turkey. With the new hangar we will build, we will further expand our capacity and contribute to Turkey's position as one of the region's important bases in aircraft maintenance. Turkey is geographically located right in the middle of Europe and the Middle East, and most commercial airlines must pass through Turkey. The Turkey market, in addition to its vibrant nature in terms of private and commercial operations, has both a mature aircraft fleet and a good supply chain for on-time parts delivery. This is an important opportunity for our new investments and for our customers' satisfaction."

Investment amount targeted to triple

Having invested a total of USD 50 million in Turkey to date, the company aims to triple this figure with the new USD 100 million investment it will make. In addition to its geographical location, Turkey is positioned as a strategic market for the aviation sector with its qualified workforce and developed aircraft fleet. Muhiddin, noting that Turkey has excellent human resources in terms of professional aviation expertise, also states that the country is a critical transit point for many commercial airlines worldwide due to its location in the middle of Europe and the Middle East.
