Excitement Begins Again: Baumit to Select Europe's Best Façade in Bratislava in 2018

The biennial Baumit Life Challenge "Facade of the Year Competition" is being held this year in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, which won first place in 2016. Baumit Turkey is participating in the competition with 11 ambitious projects across 5 categories, with nearly 500 projects being evaluated from the countries Baumit serves.

With the view that "a facade is the face of a home and reflects the style of the people living in it," Baumit offers creative solutions for exterior facades and rewards projects that create their own unique character through material, texture, form and color selection in its biennial competition. Nearly 500 projects from 27 countries entered this year's competition held across 30 countries Baumit serves. Projects are evaluated in 6 different categories: 1. New Project – Single-Family House 2. New Project – Residential Complex, Housing, Apartment Building 3. New Project – Non-Residential Building 4. Existing Project – Thermal Insulation Renovation 5. Existing Project – Historic Building 6. Special Award: Building Distinguished by its Texture

1. New Project – Single-Family House: Toskana Valley 2. New Project – Residential Complex, Housing, Apartment Building: Milpark Residences, Aquacity Denizli, Aydos Country, TEPE16, Maslak 1453, Nature Homes, Haneks Erol Bey Residential Complex, Yapısan Valley 3. New Project – Non-Residential Building: Heybeli Hotel 4. Existing Project – Thermal Insulation Renovation: Ruşen Park Residential Complex 5. Special Award: Building Distinguished by its Texture: Yapısan Valley Candidate projects will be determined through voting on the "lifechallenge" website, beginning 1 March and continuing through 3 May. Projects reaching the final will be evaluated by a jury composed of international architects. Results will be announced at the final gala evening to be held at the Bratislava Philharmonic Concert Hall on 14 June. Among the international architect jury for Baumit Life Challenge, Mehpare Evrenol from Turkey is represented this year.

2018 People's Jury: Cast Your Vote for Your Winner

Although candidate projects will be scored by a jury composed of architects, Baumit values your opinion as well. Therefore, by sharing your name, surname, address and profession information through the competition website and casting your vote, you have a chance to win an invitation to the final gala. The winner in the internet voting will be invited to the Gala Dinner to be held at the Philharmonic Concert Hall in Bratislava on 14 June 2018 and will be part of the Life Challenge awards ceremony. The winner will receive flights to Bratislava and a two-night accommodation for 2 people at a 4-star hotel in Bratislava. In the competition held in 2016, Baumit Turkey's Yıldız Residence project won the Special award: Building Illuminated by Design and was the winner of public voting. The project also achieved second place in public voting in the non-residential new building category.
