Green&Light and BASF Introduce Elastoskin®-Based Paper Honeycomb Flooring

Green&Light Automotive Components, a China-based innovative company, has introduced an easy-to-clean surface coating for automobile trunk floors. Using polyurethane paper honeycomb technology, the trunk floor surface was coated with Elastoskin®, BASF's polyurethane coating technology. Compared to traditional non-woven fabric surfaces, this newly developed product provides ease of cleaning while also offering freedom of design. It delivers a product experience with excellent emission properties.

Polyurethane Foam Will Enable Weight Reduction

In a global project with Green&Light, an Elastoskin® coating was applied to the B-side of a trunk floor for the first time. The polyurethane coating means dirt can be easily removed and the trunk will remain clean. While non-woven fabric requires adhesive application to the trunk floor in an additional production step, Elastoskin® is cast directly. This technology offers new possibilities in trunk floor design and concept. It retains extraordinary mechanical properties and also reduces emissions and odor. Elastoskin® has a pleasant feel, releases easily from the mold, is extremely resistant to aging and is recyclable.
