FRX Polymers to Develop Flame-Retardant Water-Based Emulsions with Yoo-Point
FRX Polymers Inc., a supplier of polymeric halogen-free flame retardant (FR) solutions, announced that it has signed a joint development agreement with Yoo-Point Group in China to produce water-based emulsions containing FRX Polymers Nofia phosphonate halogen-free flame retardant.
The emulsions are particularly suitable for use in polyurethane coatings and low-density flexible PU foams.
Due to the particle size of Nofia FRs in the emulsion being smaller than 400 nanometers, the material provides high stability and superior flame retardant properties and a low total volatile organic compound (TVOC) level, thereby enabling PU foams and coatings to meet the most stringent requirements related to automobile interiors.Marc Lebel, President and Chief Executive Officer of FRX Polymers, said, "This is a new and unique formulation developed for Nofia phosphonates, which once again underscores how versatile our technology is.
This joint development agreement opens many new market opportunities for Nofia flame retardants and has global impact," Lebel noted that the water-based emulsion system can be used with Nofia FRs compatible with other resins in addition to PU.
