Enerjisa Üretim Harvests 5 Tons Through Agrivoltaic Farming Applications

Enerjisa Üretim is generating electricity with solar panels at its Beykoz Komşuköy and Bandırma Enerji Üssü facilities, while also bringing new life to the soil through Agrivoltaic farming applications. Crops grown in the shade of the solar panels have yielded a total harvest of 5 tons across the two sites.

Enerjisa Üretim transforms solar energy into the cycle of life by bringing energy production and agriculture together under one roof, laying the foundations for a sustainable future today. Through agrivoltaic systems that enable agricultural production in areas where solar panels generate electricity, the company increases yields of both soil and energy. With its first application launched in Beykoz Komşuköy in 2022, it opened the door to a new model in private sector pioneering in Turkey. With the second agrivoltaic site commissioned at Bandırma Energy Hub in 2023, the company scaled this approach and pioneered a transformative movement contributing to both energy and food security. On 16 October World Food Day, Enerjisa Üretim combines the power of energy and agriculture for a sustainable future through this innovative production model powered by clean energy.
Energy and abundance under the sun
From bilberries to mint, broccoli to melon, numerous crops grow alongside energy on the same land. In 2024 alone, the two sites harvested approximately 5 tonnes of produce. During the winter period: 580 kg broccoli, 271 kg cauliflower, 1,344 kg cabbage and 120 kg red cabbage; during the summer period: 742 kg peppers, 485 kg eggplant, 485 kg melon and 840 kg mint were produced. This production became concrete proof that solar panels create not only energy but also a sustainable life cycle. The harvested products were distributed to employees and to numerous Enerjisa Üretim plants stretching from Istanbul to Çanakkale, from Balıkesir to İzmir.
Sustainability Growing with Science
Enerjisa Üretim views agrivoltaic farming applications both as a production model and as a scientific research field. In productivity studies conducted under a joint project with Ege University Faculty of Agriculture, two mint varieties with different water requirements and shade tolerance were planted and growth, spread, oil content and quality performance were analyzed in detail. As a result of these studies, 800 kilograms of mint were harvested, and a natural room spray produced from the obtained mint oil was shared with employees and stakeholders, transforming the project's benefits into tangible value.

These efforts contribute to our country's sustainable development goals while supporting the local economy, agriculture and employment.
