Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri Koordinatör Başkanı Muhammet Öztürk, 30 Ağustos Zafer Bayramı dolayısıyla yayımladığı mesajda, Büyük Zafer'in yalnızca askeri bir başarı değil, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin bağımsızlık ve ekonomik kalkınma hedeflerinin de temel taşlarından biri olduğunu vurguladı. Öztürk, "İşimiz üretim, gücümüz ihracat" anlayışıyla Türkiye'nin dünyanın ilk 10 ekonomisi arasında yer alması için çalışmaya devam edeceklerini belirtti.
The Great Offensive, which began on 26 August 1922 from Kocatepe, resulted in a decisive victory won at Dumlupınar on 30 August 1922, marking a historic turning point in the Turkish nation's struggle for independence.
Aegean Exporters' Associations Coordinator Chairman Muhammet Öztürk, in his message published on the occasion of the 30th of August Victory Day, stated that the Great Victory was one of the most important milestones in the process leading to the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.
"The Great Victory became the turning point of the independence struggle"
Noting that the War of Independence, which began on 19 May 1919 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was carried out with the goal of establishing a free and independent state, Öztürk noted that the 30th of August Victory ensured that this struggle concluded with a decisive victory.
Öztürk pointed out that the Great Victory should not be evaluated solely as a military success, stating that this victory also paved the way for the Republic of Türkiye to rise upon the foundations of a democratic, secular and rule-of-law state.
"Achievements not supported by economic victories cannot be permanent"
Recalling that economic independence was also put forward as an important goal during the founding process of the Republic, Öztürk drew attention to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words: "No matter how great political and military victories may be, if they are not supported by economic victories, they cannot endure; they will fade away in a short time."
Öztürk noted that following the Great Victory, the foundations of Türkiye's economic policies were laid with the Izmir Economic Congress, stating that important steps were taken during the Republican era toward industrialization, agriculture, exports and the development of the private sector.
Türkiye's exports have exceeded 400 billion dollars
Noting that exports, which stood at around 50 million dollars in the early years of the Republic, have now exceeded 400 billion dollars when goods and services exports are evaluated together, Öztürk said that thanks to the visionary efforts of Turkish exporters and state support, the Turkish economy has reached an important position on a global scale.
Touching on the role of the Aegean Region in Türkiye's export performance, Öztürk stated that as a region, they take pride in contributing 43 billion dollars to Türkiye's exports.
Stating that Türkiye ranks among the world's largest economies with a Gross Domestic Product of approximately 1.6 trillion dollars, Öztürk emphasized that the Aegean Region also makes a significant contribution to the Turkish economy.
"Our goal is double-digit growth in exports"
Stating that their main goal in the coming period is to achieve double-digit growth in exports, Öztürk said that they aim to make a stronger contribution to the sustainable growth of the Turkish economy.
Öztürk stated that exports are not merely an activity that brings foreign currency to the country, but also carry strategic importance in terms of employment, social welfare and sustainable development, continuing as follows:
"Today, the duty that falls to us is to strive, with the spirit of the Great Victory, for our country to enter the world's top 10 countries in every field."
"Our business is production, our strength is exports"
Stating that carrying Türkiye toward a brighter future by embracing the values of the Republic is a shared responsibility, Öztürk drew attention to the role of production and exports in the country's development.
Öztürk stated that as the Aegean Exporters' Associations, they will continue their work with the motto "Our Business Is Production, Our Strength Is Exports," and that they will continue to increase their contributions to Türkiye's economic development and modernization.
At the end of his message, Öztürk celebrated the 30th of August Victory Day with pride and enthusiasm, commemorating with mercy, gratitude and appreciation Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who gave the Great Victory to the Turkish nation, along with all his comrades-in-arms and the noble martyrs.
