Aegean Mineral Exporters' Association Awards 10 of Its Members

The Aegean Mining Exporters Association, which brings Turkey's underground mineral wealth into the economy and earned Turkey USD 1.2 billion in foreign exchange in 2022 through high-value-added exports, has rewarded 10 of its members who account for 30 percent of its export volume. At the Gala Night of the 5th Our Life in Mining Workshop held on 9 November in Afyonkarahisar, the capital of marble, the "EMIB Export Stars Awards Ceremony" honored the top 5 members of the Aegean Mining Exporters Association in both the natural stone and non-natural stone minerals sectors. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Aegean Mining Exporters Association Board Chairman İbrahim Alimoğlu noted that in 2022 they achieved USD 1.2 billion in exports, and the 10 award-winning companies accounted for USD 357 million of these exports.

Natural stone sector is the flagship of exports

Stating that the natural stone sector is the flagship of Aegean Mining Exporters Association's exports with USD 767 million, Alimoğlu made the following remarks: "The exports of our non-natural stone minerals amounted to USD 433 million. In both separate categories, we are rewarding the stars of our Aegean mining exports. To earn more foreign exchange for Turkey, we are organizing Turkey's National Participation in the Xiamen Natural Stone and Technologies Fair in China. Through our URGE Project, we are increasing our companies' export capabilities through clustering. Through the AMORF Design Competition, we are building a bridge between architects, designers and our sector, and we are creating ground for high-value-added product exports. In 2024, we will for the first time organize Turkey's National Participation in the KOREA BUILD WEEK (KINTEX) Fair in South Korea. We are organizing numerous trade delegations. The Turkish mining sector has set a USD 10 billion export target for 2028. We want to contribute USD 2 billion to this target."
