Aegean Region Sustains Growth with USD 3.47 Billion in September Exports

According to export data released by the Ministry of Commerce by province of activity for September, the Aegean Region's exports increased by 5 percent, rising from USD 3.315 billion to USD 3.470 billion. The region's total exports for January-September reached USD 32.690 billion, up 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Bursa Overtakes İzmir in September
İzmir, which maintains its locomotive position in the Aegean Region's exports, increased its September exports by USD 171 million to USD 1.802 billion. However, Bursa, with a 20 percent export increase in the same period, reached USD 1.809 billion, narrowly surpassing İzmir.

In the first nine months of the year, Bursa's total exports reached USD 14.4 billion, while İzmir's exports totaled USD 17.9 billion. Thus, İzmir maintained its third-place ranking on an annual basis.

Uşak Becomes September's Export Growth Champion
Uşak, which showed stagnant performance in the first eight months of 2025, accelerated its exports in September. The city increased its exports by 16.5 percent, rising from USD 38.6 million to USD 45 million, and became the Aegean Region's export growth leader.

Decline in Manisa, Steady Growth in Denizli
Manisa, which achieved USD 680 million in exports in September 2024, declined to USD 643 million in the same period this year. The city's nine-month exports fell by 1 percent to USD 5.496 billion.

By contrast, Denizli continued its steady growth, increasing its exports by 4 percent to USD 377.8 million, and its nine-month total to USD 3.333 billion.

Balıkesir Surpasses USD 200 Million Threshold
Balıkesir, which contributes USD 2.5 billion annually to Turkey's economy, increased its September exports by 2 percent to USD 200.7 million. The city's exports for the first nine months of the year reached USD 1.840 billion, up 4 percent.

Temporary Decline in Aydın, Momentum Maintained on Annual Target
Aydın, targeting USD 2 billion in exports for 2025, achieved USD 150.8 million in September exports, down 10 percent. However, the city increased its exports by 6 percent during the nine-month period to USD 1.375 billion.

Muğla Surpasses USD 1 Billion
Muğla, Turkey's leader in aquatic products exports, increased its September exports by 5.5 percent to USD 121 million. Reaching USD 1.016 billion in the nine-month period with a 7.6 percent increase, Muğla crossed the USD 1 billion threshold, marking an important milestone.

Strong Performance from Kütahya and Afyonkarahisar
Kütahya, one of Turkey's leading porcelain production centers, increased its September exports by 3 percent to USD 77.6 million, and its nine-month exports to USD 712 million.

Afyonkarahisar, known for marble exports, achieved USD 50.5 million in September exports with a 9 percent increase. The city's nine-month exports rose 25 percent to USD 671 million. Thus, Afyonkarahisar became the province with the highest export growth rate in the Aegean Region for the year.

The Aegean Region's Strength Growing
Looking at the overall picture, the Aegean Region continued to increase both its export volume and regional diversification in September 2025. Strong performances from provinces such as Afyonkarahisar, Muğla, and Uşak, alongside İzmir, Bursa, and Manisa, strengthened the region's share in Turkey's exports.
