DP World Opens Its First Contract Logistics Warehouse in Turkey

DP World has launched its first contract logistics warehouse in Kocaeli Balçık with 20,000 square meters, strengthening its supply chain operations in Turkey, while targeting 150,000 square meters of warehouse capacity in Eastern Europe by 2028.

DP World has begun operations at its first Contract Logistics warehouse in Turkey, located in Kocaeli Balçık. With this step, the company aims to strengthen the supply chain services it provides to customers across important regional trade corridors.

The 20,000 square-meter facility was designed with 26 loading ramps to increase storage efficiency and facilitate operations. The warehouse is intended to provide customers with faster and more flexible supply chain management. The facility supports a wide range of products across DP World's strategic verticals, spanning the automotive, technology, industrial and chemical, retail and consumer, and healthcare sectors.

DP World aims to expand its regional contract logistics operations in Eastern Europe to 150,000 square meters of warehouse capacity by 2028.

Jacques Hartman, Operations Director for DP World Europe Contract Logistics Operations, commented on the matter: "Turkey occupies a central place in our regional growth strategy, and our new Balçık warehouse represents an important step in our plan to reach 150,000 square meters of contract logistics capacity in Eastern Europe by 2028. The proximity of our warehouse to our terminals will enable customers to access regional and international markets faster and more securely. This strengthens our end-to-end service offering and supports increasing demand in the region for integrated, cost-effective and sustainable solutions."

A team of 70 logistics professionals manages daily operations through a Warehouse Management System (WMS) integrated with DP World's Terminal Operating Systems (TOS). The system provides precise, transparent and efficient workflow throughout the receiving to shipping process.

Sustainability is positioned at the center of the facility's design and operations. Through energy-efficient and lithium-ion battery-powered equipment, the aim is to implement more environmentally friendly logistics practices in the field.

Balçık's strategic location in Kocaeli positions the warehouse close to important transportation corridors, industrial zones, Istanbul and İzmit Bay. The proximity to DP World's Körfez and Yarımca terminals, which are part of East Marmara's largest port complex, provides fast and reliable access to regional and international markets.

The opening is considered an important milestone in the company's contract logistics strategy in Turkey and Eastern Europe. By integrating its contract logistics capabilities with its strong positions in port and terminal as well as shipping and transportation operations, DP World aims to provide faster, more reliable and cost-effective service from factory to customer's door.
