Cargill Launches Polyaspartic Ester Combining Fast Cure Time and Longer Pot Life

Cargill has launched Altor™ 205, an industrial polyaspartic ester product that provides longer pot life (working time) compared to service life (cure time), meeting long-standing industry need for extended coating application windows. This combination of benefits enables Altor 205 users to coat more square footage in less time; this can reduce labor hours and allow contractors to take on more work. Altor 205 Polyaspartic Ester is formulated for use in coatings for interior and exterior applications, on concrete substrates and primed steel surfaces. When cured with an aliphatic polyisocyanate, it creates a coating with extended gel time and additional performance advantages exceeding industry standards, including: extended pot life of 60 minutes compared to typical 25-30 minutes, providing improved hardness development. Improved hardness development – the ability to return to service faster through industrial blends of polyaspartic esters with 25-minute and 420-minute gel times, with hard cure time of 23 minutes compared to the 12-hour standard, allowing significantly faster drying.
