Bartın University Focuses on Future Technologies

Scholarship recipients pursuing graduate studies at the world's leading research universities on behalf of Bartın University are conducting research on future technologies ranging from artificial intelligence to automotive, infrastructure to smart technologies. Within the framework of the "Regional Development-Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization Project" implemented by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Bartın University, which has qualified for specialization in the field of "Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications," aims for sustainable development focused on regional growth. Within this scope, Bartın University continues work in the fields of "Smart Logistics," "Smart Ports," "Smart Industry," "Smart Cities," "Smart Energy," and "Smart Health," while simultaneously taking steps toward the training of qualified human resources.

Graduate students in 7 different countries

Bartın University, following innovations in technology from artificial intelligence to automotive, infrastructure to smart technologies, continues preparing new projects in line with local globalization objectives. As steps taken in this direction have begun to bear fruit, scholarship recipients pursuing graduate education in 7 different countries on behalf of Bartın University have begun contributing to the process. A total of 26 doctoral students, 1 postdoctoral researcher, and 2 master's degree students studying in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Lebanon, Malaysia, and Jordan will continue their research at Bartın University following their studies.

Meeting with students at regular intervals

At Bartın University, where contact with overseas students is maintained, regular meetings are held with those continuing their studies through various programs, primarily the Ministry of National Education's (MEB) Overseas Education Program (YLSY). In online meetings attended by Bartın University Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun, Deputy Rectors Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran, discussions are held on possible sectors that could develop in the region with a focus on the Filyos Valley Project in the specialization field, the country's future goals, internationalization, quality, and sustainability.

Rector Uzun, emphasizing that significant work is being conducted at Bartın University with the objective of "Internationalization at the Local Level," stated: "Increasing qualified human resources is of critical importance to bring our country to its 2023 targets and to its 2053 and 2071 visions and to advance with confidence in this direction. This can only be achieved by closely monitoring developments occurring on a global scale and supporting scientists and researchers in priority areas needed by our country. At this point, as Bartın University, following long-term work with our internal and external stakeholders, we have determined our working areas with the aim of adding value to our country's development starting from where we are now. Our work was crowned with recognition by the Council of Higher Education, which identified our University's specialization area. As a university, in order to implement this important achievement we have attained in a sustainable manner, we are working on one hand to produce and on the other to develop qualified individuals," he said.

"We will contribute to the historic project through synergistic work"

Rector Uzun also stated that they are ready to provide scientific contributions within the framework of cooperation to what will be one of Turkey's largest port and major industrial zones, saying: "By focusing on the Filyos Port Project, we continue conducting work that will support mobility among the economic actors in our region. Our goal is to create high-value developments through our University's efforts, increase R&D and production-related activities, strengthen product-market competitiveness, and support our development drive with a specialized structure. The leading component that will carry the targets set at this point upward is our students continuing their studies overseas. I believe that on this journey we have embarked upon with the philosophy of 'Succeeding Together,' further successes will continue to come," he said.
