Alarko Launches New Era in Sustainability with GRI-Compliant Report

Alarko Holding has published its 2024 GRI-Compliant Sustainability Report, sharing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
Alarko Holding published its 2024 GRI-aligned Sustainability Report, disclosing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
Prepared under the heading "Sustainability Only," the report presents sustainability performance through data, best practices, stakeholder expectations and future targets, while drawing attention with its plain language and low-carbon design.
Simple yet impactful sustainability approach
Alarko Holding treats sustainability not merely as a reporting obligation, but as a responsible business model. Following its first TSRS-aligned Sustainability Report published in August, the company emphasizes with its new GRI-standards-compliant report that "it is possible to multiply by reducing."
The report redefines the balance between form and content, deliberately abstaining from visuals, colours and graphic elements. Thus it stands out as a reflection of the "Responsible Communication Policy" aimed at reducing carbon emissions in digital environments.
Ümit N. Yıldız: "We are sharing our new value ecosystem with a responsible investor identity"
Ümit N. Yıldız, CEO of Alarko Companies Group, made the following statement regarding the report:
"We adopt sustainability not merely as a reporting obligation, but as a priority responsibility area that forms the foundation of our investments, all business processes and objectives.
In line with our 2050 Net Zero target, we are sharing our performance indicators across all sectors, best practices in energy efficiency and circular economy, and our future projections in this report. We hope this report, with its quality content and low-carbon design, will serve as an example to the business world."
Multidimensional transformation in line with 2050 Net Zero target
Drawing strength from its experience of over 70 years, Alarko Holding views the 2050 Net Zero target as a strategic transformation opportunity. The group is building a value ecosystem centred on people and nature through sustainability projects across different sectors.
Energy: Alarko Energy Group aims to increase its current 140 MW renewable energy capacity to 640 MW within five years. The group is also investing in technologies such as energy storage systems and lithium-ion battery production, playing an active role in Turkey's energy transition.
Agriculture: Alarko Agriculture Group is building a 360-degree ecosystem ranging from modern greenhouse cultivation to specialty fertiliser production, bringing together technology and women's labour. The group is advancing towards the target of 10,000 hectares of modern greenhouses in Turkey and Kazakhstan by 2028.
Industry, Tourism and Aviation:
Alarko Carrier meets all the electricity consumed in its production processes from renewable sources.
The Hillside brand is setting an example in sustainable tourism by integrating environmental and social responsibility. In the aviation sector, the company is creating an environmentally-friendly business model by converting end-of-life aircraft into cargo aircraft following circular economy principles.
Social impact and inclusive development
Gender equality, women entrepreneurship, quality education and social development form the foundation of Alarko's impact strategy.
As a signatory to the WEPs (Women's Empowerment Principles), Alarko created positive impact in 2024 by directly reaching over 180,000 people through 25 different social responsibility projects.
The group is also rolling out sustainability competencies across the organisation through the "Positive Impact – Green Collar Programme." The maintenance of Ortaköy Central Campus's "Carbon Neutral Building" status is also an important indicator of this approach.
Making a difference through responsible communication culture
As the first holding in Turkey to adopt a "Responsible Communication Policy," Alarko is creating a transparent, data-driven and accountable communication culture. It aims to raise awareness about "greenwashing" and increase sustainability consciousness. Through these comprehensive efforts, Alarko Holding continues to rank among the top 25 companies in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) Sustainability Index.
