Aktif Bank Launches "Active Women in Economy" Project

Aktif Bank, through its new project called 'Women Active in the Economy,' will contribute to the sustainability of income-generating activities of low-income female microentrepreneurs in cooperation with the Turkey Grameen Microfinance Program. The bank also aims to support women on their entrepreneurship journey by providing education in cooperation with global information services company Experian.

Ayşegül Adaca Shared Her Views

Details of the project launched by the bank in cooperation with the Turkey Grameen Microfinance Program were shared at a press conference. Speaking at the conference, Aktif Bank General Manager Ayşegül Adaca said, "Women Active in the Economy is a microfinance project we have implemented for women entrepreneurs. In the first phase, we will start the program with one thousand women entrepreneurs. We want the program to be sustainable."

Women's Employment is Important

Highlighting the importance of women's participation in employment, Adaca said, "We have been working on this project for some time now. The project is a microfinance initiative we have implemented for women entrepreneurs. We designed the project with Turkey Grameen Microfinance Program and Experian. Our aim is to reach disadvantaged women who are not part of the financial system with a microfinance program to address their needs for both their families' economic welfare and financing their own enterprises. Through the microcredit project we have designed, we will build credit scores and financial profiles for women, making it easier for them to access financial instruments after this microcredit. Pınar Yılmaz Shared Her Views

Aktif Bank Retail Banking Group Head Pınar Yılmaz stated that in the first phase, in cooperation with the Turkey Grameen Microfinance Program, they will provide microcredit of TRY 2,000 each to one thousand women, totaling TRY 2 million, and that they aim to reach five thousand women within three years. Yılmaz concluded her remarks as follows: "First, through interest-free microloans with a 12-month maturity that we will disburse, we will provide capital support to female microentrepreneurs establishing small businesses and build their financial profiles. Subsequently, in cooperation with Experian, we will provide training called 'Manage Your Financial Future' and also offer consultancy. In the subsequent phases of the project, which we will implement in 65 provinces where Turkey Grameen Microfinance Program operates, we are also designing business development and credit processes for purchasing materials needed for business. Additionally, we aim to include women who want to become entrepreneurs in alternative sectors such as livestock and agriculture. After measuring the productivity of this project, which we aim to be long-term, we plan to reach more women and support them in both capital and education."   Source
