Aksa Enerji Signs Agreement for 825 MW Natural Gas Power Plant Investment in Ghana

Aksa Enerji is taking a major step towards becoming Ghana's largest independent power producer, reaching 1,545 MW of installed capacity in the country. The company is strengthening its energy investments in Africa with an 825 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant in Takoradi, while increasing its total installed capacity on the continent to 2,240 MW.

Aksa Enerji, operating in 8 countries with over 3,500 MW of installed capacity and 14 power plants, is expanding its growth strategy in Africa with a new investment. The company has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement in US dollars with Electricity Company of Ghana for an 825 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant to be built in Takoradi. Under the agreement, Aksa Enerji will undertake the construction, operation and sale of electricity generated by the plant.

The Takoradi Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, which stands out for its high efficiency and flexible generation capability, will contribute to Ghana's long-term energy supply security while supporting increased local employment, supply chain strengthening and technical capacity development. The project will also help meet Africa's growing electricity demand from reliable and sustainable sources.

Installed capacity in Africa to reach 2,240 MW
Following the Tema and Kumasi projects, Aksa Enerji is adding the Takoradi investment to its portfolio. Together with its investments in Senegal, Gabon and Burkina Faso, the company will increase its total installed capacity on the African continent to 2,240 MW.

With the completion of the Kumasi and Takoradi projects, Aksa Enerji's total installed capacity in Ghana will reach 1,545 MW. This will establish Aksa Enerji as the country's largest independent power producer, playing a critical role in Ghana's energy supply security.
