Adil Pelister Made a Written Statement

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB), issued a written assessment regarding the "Turkey Green Industry Project" implemented with World Bank financing support through KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Pelister stated the following in his assessment:

"I wish the 'Turkey Green Industry Project,' implemented with World Bank financing support through KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, to be beneficial for our country, our business community, and our sector. I consider this project, which supports green transformation preparation activities within the scope of our country's 2053 Net Zero Emission vision and our chemistry sector's 2030 vision for sustainability, to be highly important, and I hope that our sector, a large portion of which consists of SMEs, will benefit from this valuable support. Our Minister announced that the 'Turkey Green Industry Project' will support the effective green transformation of industrialists, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, and that the project, with a budget of USD 450 million, will be carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology together with KOSGEB and TÜBİTAK. With the KOSGEB Green Industry Support Program now in effect, support of up to TRY 14 million will be provided for SMEs to install solar energy systems within their own facilities, support of up to TRY 4 million will be given for green transformation projects aimed at energy, water, and raw material efficiency, and sustainable and climate-resilient waste recycling. It was stated that through TÜBİTAK support, companies engaged in R&D and innovation activities for green production and higher energy and resource efficiency, as well as partnerships led by the private sector, will be supported. Within the scope of the "Green Growth Technology Roadmap," we see that focus is placed on 6 sectors. It is gratifying that our chemicals, plastics, and fertilizer sectors, which are among the 6 sectors, are being prioritized and will be able to apply to the project. Since the chemistry sector is a strategic sector that provides input to 27 other sectors, its inclusion within the priority scope and taking action for green transformation with these supports will also have a positive effect on all other sectors.

As İKMİB, we have identified sustainability as our focal point in line with our 2030 vision. In this context, we are conducting work on green transformation, circular economy, and digital transformation. Transformation projects require high costs and capital. In this respect, support for our companies by the state is of great importance. Now is the time to take action for sustainable growth and a strong Turkey, for our future. We recommend that our companies definitely apply for and benefit from the projects for which calls have been made within the scope of the Green Industry Project: the Green Innovation Technology Mentoring Call, the Green Transformation Call for Industry, and the R&D and Innovation Networks for Industry (SAYEM) Green Transformation Call. As the chemistry sector, the driving force of exports that contribute most significantly to our country's development and economy, we will continue working with all our strength to achieve our targets and break new records in Turkey's second century."
