37th National Chemistry Congress to Bring Together the Scientific Community in Erzurum

The 37th National Chemistry Congress (UKK2026), to be held under the coordination of Türkiye Kimya Derneği in cooperation with Atatürk Üniversitesi, will take place in Erzurum between 24-27 June 2026. The congress, which will bring together academics, researchers and students in the field of chemistry, will facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge as well as create opportunities for new collaborations.

During the first three days of the four-day congress, scientific sessions will be held where invited speakers and participants who are experts in their fields will share their current work. Within the program featuring oral and poster presentations, academics and students from different universities are expected to present their research and increase academic interaction. On the final day of the event, a comprehensive social program will be organized for participants.

The event, first held in 1984 as the "Chemistry Symposium" under the auspices of Atatürk Üniversitesi, has become one of Turkey's most important chemistry organizations over the years. The university previously hosted the 25th National Chemistry Congress in 2011. With the 37th National Chemistry Congress to be organized in cooperation with Atatürk Üniversitesi Chemistry Department and Türkiye Kimya Derneği, the university is preparing to host this important event once again. Congress Chair Prof. Dr. Ömer İrfan Küfrevioğlu, speaking on behalf of all boards, expressed that they will be delighted to welcome the entire scientific community to Erzurum and the university on 24-27 June 2026.

Erzurum, which will host the congress, ranks among Turkey's important cities with its deep historical roots and rich cultural heritage. Structures such as Yakutiye Madrasah, Çifte Minareli Madrasah and Ulu Mosque, which have survived from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods to the present day, testify to the city's role as a center of learning and culture for centuries. Erzurum, which also attracts attention with its natural beauty, is home to Palandöken, considered one of the world's premier ski resorts. Additionally, with delicacies such as cağ kebab, kadayıf dolması and regional coffee houses, it offers visitors a rich gastronomic experience.
