Roche and ADYSK Launch Environmental Initiative for Marmara Sea
As part of the "Let the Seas full of Life" project initiated by Roche Pharmaceuticals Turkey and the Princes' Islands Association for Life with Sea and Sports Club (ADYSK) to preserve the Marmara Sea and its biodiversity for future generations, Turkey's first coral transplantation is underway. Designed to protect biodiversity in the Marmara Sea, the project marks Turkey's first coral transplantation operation. The project, supported scientifically by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), is being implemented through the voluntary cooperation of Istanbul University and ADYSK. Under the project, endangered corals from the Princes' Islands have been transported to the waters off Neandros Island, also known as Tavşan Island, using a reproduction method with a 90 percent success rate. The "Let the Seas full of Life" project has also made significant progress in removing ghost nets that threaten marine wildlife.Advertisement
