TOBB Announces Fastest-Growing Companies

TOBB Chairman M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated in his remarks that when preparing the Turkey 100 list, the revenue growth rate of applying companies over the previous 2 years, namely 2016-2018, was taken into consideration.

Announcing that the average growth of Turkey's 100 fastest-growing companies during this period was 511%, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated, "This is a striking figure. Because they demonstrated performance 12 times above Turkey's national income growth. During the same period, they increased production per employee, that is, their productivity, by an average of 221%. In 2018, each company had average sales of TRY 79 million. Each also provided employment to an average of 111 people. During the 2016-2018 period, employment at Turkey 100 companies increased by 86%. 63% of Turkey 100 companies engage in exports. They export to exactly 67 different countries. We take pride in companies showing such great achievements and deserving entry into Turkey 100, and we sincerely congratulate all of them," he said.  

- Innovative and sustainable companies

Emphasizing that the companies here are young, innovative, and sustainable, TOBB Chairman stated that the average age of Turkey 100 companies is approximately 13 years. Noting that 24 of the companies that entered the Turkey 100 list in 2020 were also on the Turkey 100 list last year, Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke as follows: "Turkey 100 companies do work that everyone knows in a very different way. They use digital technology very well. They do not view resources devoted to employee training as an expense; they attach great importance to this. With high environmental awareness they operate with a "zero waste" understanding. There are two more very important points here. The regional distribution of the Turkey 100 list is also quite remarkable. The list includes companies from 25 cities outside the 3 major cities. The rise of Anatolia is clearly visible here. There is also an interesting distribution in terms of sectors. The list includes companies from many different sectors, from IT to telecommunications; from construction to logistics; from food to textiles; from plastics to machinery. This diversity is actually the best proof that there are opportunities in every sector in our country; success can be achieved in every sector with the right business model. - Why is Turkey 100 important?

Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that they attach great importance to Turkey 100 for 3 reasons, said the following:

"First of all this; as you know, there is a beautiful saying in our culture: "skill deserves recognition". The ones most deserving of recognition are our entrepreneurs who play a leading role in the enrichment of this country, pay taxes, produce, export and provide employment. Especially in such a time, we want to appreciate companies achieving great success, Turkey's 100 fastest-growing companies, and thank them. Second; we want the future of these well-managed companies with bright prospects to open further, to grow more. For this reason, we are introducing Turkey's 100 fastest-growing companies to everyone. We are making it easier for them to reach investors and customers. We want them to be active not only domestically but also internationally, to export. We provide support for this. The third reason for our attachment to this matter is this; in this age, the key to enrichment and development is entrepreneurship. We need more entrepreneurs. As you know entrepreneurship is a matter of enthusiasm. We want the number of our entrepreneur role models to increase through the Turkey 100 competition. We want each company here to be an example to new entrepreneurs. We want all our youth, our women, to hear these success stories. Let them hear so that they too become more enthusiastic about becoming entrepreneurs. I also want to address our companies that applied to the Turkey 100 program but did not make the top 100; you grew by an average of 98% during the 2016-2018 period. - Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan

Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan also stated in her remarks that they are closely following the process between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom, saying, "We hope to share an agreement we will sign with the United Kingdom with the public as soon as possible." The TOBB Turkey 100 Awards Ceremony, organized with contributions from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), TEPAV and TOBB ETÜ, was held in virtual format with the participation of Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan and TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. At the opening of the awards ceremony, Minister Pekcan stated that she found this event, in which companies drawing attention with their growth performance are awarded, to be quite valuable in terms of contributing to companies becoming more visible in national and international public opinion. Stating that Turkey is a young and dynamic country, Pekcan said they continue their work with awareness of producing more added value and exporting more within the framework of rapid growth, development and objectives to enter the world's highest-income countries. Pekcan drew attention to the impact of recent trade wars and the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on world economies, noting that the pandemic created both supply and demand shocks in the global economy. Pekcan emphasized that the most serious global economic contraction seen since World War II has occurred and its effects continue. Recording that as of today, the change of administration in the US could bring about a change in US policy choices regarding global trade, Pekcan stated, "We may see especially a new transatlantic cooperation approach."
