Table Olive Export Ratio Announced

Turkish olive sector completed two-thirds of the 2020-21 season. Turkey earned USD 105 million from table olive exports and USD 72 million from olive oil exports. Table olive exports reached 60,000 tons by volume. During the 8-month period of the 2020-21 season, Davut Er, Chairman of Ege Zeytin ve Zeytinyağı İhracatçıları Birliği, stated that Turkey exported 46,000 tons of black olives and 14,000 tons of green olives. He noted that black olive exports generated USD 81 million in foreign exchange, while green olives generated USD 24 million. Speaking at the ordinary general assembly of Ege Zeytin ve Zeytinyağı İhracatçıları Birliği for 2019 and 2020, Er said, "Germany ranked first among countries to which we exported the most black and green olives. Germany was followed by Iraq, Romania, the United States and Bulgaria. In the first 8 months of the 2019/20 season, our table olive exports were 59,000 tons, worth USD 103 million. Compared to last season, we achieved a 2 percent increase in both volume and value." Emphasizing that Turkey generated USD 146 million in foreign exchange from 84,417 tons of table olive exports at the end of the 2019/20 season, Chairman Er continued: "This figure represents Turkey's highest export revenue to date in foreign exchange terms. I am pleased to share with you that we will reach a new record at the end of the 2020-21 season." Olive oil exports reach 25,000 tons Davut Er, Chairman of EZZİB, noted that olive oil exports in the 2020/21 season began on 1 November 2020 and that 7 months had passed. He stated that Turkey's olive oil exports by volume declined 20 percent from 31,000 tons to 25,000 tons, while the value declined 4 percent from USD 75 million to USD 72 million. Er said, "Our olive oil export unit price increased 20 percent from USD 2.38 to USD 2.85 per kilogram. During this period, the United States was the country to which we exported the most olive oil, at USD 24 million. Packaged olive oil exports during this period reached USD 41 million, and we shipped 60 percent of our total olive oil exports in packaged form." Regarding the ban on bulk and barrel olive oil exports from Turkey, EZZİB Chairman Davut Er stated that they conducted the process according to the Ministry of Commerce's instructions and prevented companies with contracts for bulk and barrel exports from suffering losses. The Ege Zeytin ve Zeytinyağı İhracatçıları Birliği's 2021 work program was approved, and the 2021 budget was set at TRY 2,250,000.
