EIB Exports to 202 Countries and Regions in Nine Months

EIB Increases Exports to Asia and Oceania Countries by 39 Percent

Europe's share in EIB exports reached 54 percent

Aegean Exporters Associations, which reached its year-end export target of USD 15 billion five months early with an export strategy focused on digitalization, R&D, sustainability, design and innovation, exported to 202 different markets during January-September.

Aegean Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi said, "Over the last 12 months, we have USD 15.525 billion in exports with a 21 percent increase. Our new targets are to bring USD 16 billion to our country in 2021 and USD 18 billion in 2022.

During January-September, we achieved USD 11.821 billion in exports with a 27 percent increase.

Our agricultural exports rose 10 percent to USD 4.006 billion, industrial exports increased 41 percent to USD 7.014 billion, and our mining sector exports rose 18 percent to USD 799 million.

During January-September, we exported to 202 countries and regions. We increased our exports to 155 countries and regions."

Exports to European Union Rise 30 Percent to USD 5.475 Billion

Eskinazi, noting that EIB exported USD 5.475 billion to its traditional trading partner, the European Union, which sets the climate justice agenda, with a 30 percent increase, continued as follows:

"We exported USD 912 million to other European countries with a 33 percent increase. Thus, Europe's share in our exports rose to 54 percent.

During the nine-month period, we exported USD 1.361 billion to countries in the Americas, which experienced the highest increase at 42 percent, and USD 1.227 billion to Middle Eastern countries.

Our target markets in Asia and Oceania countries increased our export share to USD 903 million with a 39 percent advance in 2021."

New Commercial Alliances in Trans-Pacific Region

Jak Eskinazi draws attention to China's new move, which for the first time is part of a trading bloc with the RCEP signed by 15 Asia-Pacific countries and has strengthened its position with an investment agreement recently concluded with the EU.

"China recently applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) involving 11 Asia-Pacific countries, taking a major step to support its economy.

Parallel to these developments that reshape the infrastructure of the world economy and prioritize multilateralism and free trade, we need to develop new strategies.

When EIB's exports to Far East countries are examined; we experienced 2.5 percent increase to China, 107 percent to South Korea, 140 percent to Hong Kong, and 90 percent to Taiwan during January-September."

EIB Strengthens Its Position in Asia-Pacific

Noting that Aegean Exporters Associations increased its exports in South Asia by 21 percent to India, 233 percent to Pakistan, 62 percent to Bangladesh, 47 percent to Sri Lanka, and 14 percent to Afghanistan, Eskinazi stated, "In the Asia-Pacific region, our exports increased 81 percent to Malaysia, 70 percent to Singapore, 45 percent to Thailand, and 192 percent to Vietnam.

We achieved USD 894 million in exports to African countries with a 20 percent increase, USD 646 million to former Eastern Bloc countries with a 32 percent increase, and USD 167 million to Turkish Republics with a 23 percent increase."

According to EIB data;

During January-September, USD 1.291 billion to Germany with a 24 percent increase, USD 944 million to the United States with a 37 percent increase, USD 777 million to the United Kingdom with a 36 percent increase, USD 736 million to Italy with a 45 percent increase, USD 644 million to Spain with a 33 percent increase, USD 494 million to France with a 27 percent increase, USD 481 million to the Netherlands with a 4 percent increase, USD 331 million to Russia with a 32 percent increase, USD 305 million to Belgium with a 48 percent increase, USD 300 million to Israel with a 25 percent increase in exports were realized.
