Aegean Exporters' Associations Increase Exports by 18% in March

Aegean Exporter Associations increased their March exports by 18 percent, achieving USD 1.286 billion in exports. In the first quarter of 2021, during the January-March period, EİB raised its exports by 8.5 percent, reaching USD 3.515 billion. Over the past 12 months, the organization recorded USD 13.278 billion in exports.

Textiles set new record, EDDMIB secures top position

Aegean Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association, with an 81 percent increase, earned Turkey USD 35 million, becoming the growth champion of March following January and February. Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association raised its March exports by 37 percent to USD 165 million, becoming the highest-exporting association. Aegean Ready-Made Garments and Apparel Exporters Association, with a 37 percent increase, recorded USD 117 million and ranked as the second-highest exporting association. Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association increased exports by 42 percent to USD 101 million in March. Aegean Mining Exporters Association achieved USD 88 million in exports with an 8 percent increase, while Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association recorded USD 82 million in exports with a 15 percent increase. Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association earned Turkey USD 63 million in March, while Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association brought in USD 57 million with a 6 percent increase. Aegean Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association recorded March exports of USD 49 million, and Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association achieved USD 42 million in exports. Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association reached USD 14 million in exports, while Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association demonstrated success with USD 13 million in exports, up 3 percent.  

Industrial products exports rise 36 percent

Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of Aegean Exporter Associations, said they reached the highest monthly export figures on a post-pandemic basis and continued as follows: "Last year, EİB members' industrial products exports declined by 12 percent in March. In March 2021, all our industrial associations managed to increase their exports. Our industrial products exports rose from USD 585 million to USD 784 million, a 36 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Agricultural products exports reached USD 413 million, while our mining sector exports increased 8 percent to USD 88 million. Of our 12 exporter associations, 8 increased their exports in March. Two of our food associations managed to increase their exports in March, while 5 fell short of their performance from last year."

Aquatic products exports exceed USD 1 billion for the first time

Jak Eskinazi announced that exports from the iron and non-ferrous metals, ready-made garments and apparel, aquatic products and animal products associations exceeded USD 100 million. "Our aquatic products exports surpassed USD 1 billion in a 12-month period for the first time in history. Pandemic effects are now diminishing. One of the major obstacles facing our exports is the transportation crisis, which is a problem experienced worldwide. Logistical disruptions during the pandemic, accumulated demand, companies' desire to build inventory against possible lockdowns, and container shortages exacerbated the situation. Far East-Europe freight and container prices, which have shown significant increases over the past 12 months, will improve further by mid-year with global vaccination progress and the easing of restrictions, leading to normalization of world trade. We are moving forward with confident steps toward our 2021 export target of USD 15 billion," he said.

Izmir's exports under the general trade system increased 13.9 percent in February

While exports under the general trade system increased 9.6 percent nationwide in February, exports under the general trade system in Izmir increased 13.9 percent in February.

Aegean Region's exports reached USD 2.505 billion in March

Under the special trade system, the export figure of Aegean Region provinces reached USD 2.505 billion in March. Izmir, which ranks among Turkey's highest-exporting provinces, achieved USD 1.387 billion in exports. In the Aegean Region, Manisa recorded USD 491 million, Denizli USD 351 million, Balıkesir USD 66 million, Aydın USD 62 million, Muğla USD 61 million, Afyon USD 34 million, Kütahya USD 27 million, and Uşak USD 24 million in exports.
