Most Companies from the Aegean Region Made It Onto the ISO 500 List

The Istanbul Chamber of Industry released its Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises Survey. The Top 500 Industrial Enterprises List featured 113 companies from the Aegean Region, nearly all of which are export leaders in their respective sectors. 43 companies from İzmir made the list, while Manisa had 12, Denizli 10, Balıkesir 9, Aydın 3, Muğla and Uşak 2 each, and Afyon and Kütahya 1 each. Additionally, 31 companies with headquarters outside the Aegean Region but production facilities in the Aegean Region entered the ISO 500 Top Industrial Enterprises list. TÜPRAŞ-Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri A.Ş., headquartered in Kocaeli but with a refinery in İzmir Aliağa, maintained its top position on the ISO 500 Top Industrial Enterprises List, ranking first. Star Rafineri A.Ş., which made a strong entry at 5th place in 2019, held 6th place this year. Vestel Beyaz Eşya San. ve Tic. A.Ş., which drives Manisa's exports and ranks first in its sector in Turkey, ranked 20th, while Vestel Elektronik San. ve Tic. A.Ş. ranked 22nd. PETKİM Petrokimya Holding A.Ş. took 23rd place. While 100 companies from the Aegean Region maintained their position in Turkey's industrial elite, 13 Aegean companies entered the ISO Top 500 List for the first time this year.

Verde, Roteks, Işık Tarım and Ege Seramik from İzmir join the list

Verde Yağ Besin Maddeleri San. ve Tic. A.Ş. from İzmir entered the list at 421st place, while Roteks Tekstil İhracat San. ve Tic. A.Ş., which ranked 6th on the ISO second 500 list in 2019, rose 50 places and entered the ISO top 500 list this year at 454th place. Işık Tarım Ürünleri San. ve Tic. A.Ş., one of the leading companies in the organic sector, made its entry into the industrial elite at 466th position, while Ege Seramik San. ve Tic. A.Ş. successfully entered the list at 481st place.

Yorglass from Manisa rose 98 places

In the ranking of Turkey's top export provinces, Manisa ranks 8th. According to 2020 performance, 12 companies from Manisa entered the ISO top 500 list. Yorglass Cam San. ve Tic. A.Ş., which entered the list at 426th place, is a new member. Yorglass ranked 24th on the ISO second 500 list in 2019. The company rose 98 places this year. Other companies from Manisa on the list are: "Vestel Beyaz Eşya San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Vestel Elektronik San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Bosch Termoteknik Isıtma ve Klima San. Tic. A.Ş., Maxion İnci Jant Sanayi A.Ş., İnci GS Yuasa Akü San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Yonca Gıda Sanayi İşletmeleri İç ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş., Klimasan Klima San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Elba Basınçlı Döküm Sanayii A.Ş., Tirsan Kardan San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Maxion Jantaş Jant San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Soma Termik Santral Elektrik Üretim A.Ş."

Denizli's top 10 determined

10 companies from Denizli continue their journey in the ISO top 500, with no new companies from Denizli entering the list. Er-Bakır Elektrolitik Bakır Mamulleri A.Ş. ranked 30th in the overall ranking while maintaining its first place among Denizli companies. Abalıoğlu Lezita Gıda Sanayi A.Ş., Seval Kablo Aydınlatma Cihazları İth. İhr. San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Abalıoğlu Yem Sanayi A.Ş., Kardemir Haddecilik San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Aynes Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Menderes Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Pamukkale Kablo San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Gamateks Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Atom Kablo San. ve Tic. A.Ş. are Denizli's other pride companies on the list.

4 companies from Balıkesir enter ISO 500

While Balıkesir's industry was represented by 6 companies on the champions list in 2019, this rose to 9 companies in 2020. 4 companies from Balıkesir experienced the joy of entering the list this year. Kula Yağ ve Emek Yem San. Tic. A.Ş., which ranked 17th on the ISO second 500 in 2019, jumped 49 places in 2020 and entered the ISO top 500 at 468th position. İşbir Sentetik Dokuma Sanayi A.Ş. entered the list at 483rd place, while Balıkesir-based Assan Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Gesbey Enerji Türbini Kule Üretim San. ve Tic. A.Ş. took 490th and 499th positions respectively. Zorlu Doğal Elektrik Üretimi A.Ş., Jantsa Jant San. ve Tic. A.Ş. and Kaltun Madencilik Sanayi Nakliye ve Akaryakıt Ticaret A.Ş. represent Aydın on the ISO top 500 list, while from Muğla; Gümüşdoğa Su Ürünleri Üretim İhracat ve İthalat A.Ş. and Kılıç Deniz Ürünleri Üretimi İhr. İth. ve Tic. A.Ş. are included. From Uşak, Gedik Tavukçuluk ve Tarım Ürünleri Tic. San. A.Ş. and Özerdem Mensucat San. ve Tic. A.Ş. made their place among industrial giants once again this year, while Oruçoğlu Yağ San. ve Tic. A.Ş. represents Afyonkarahisar and Nursan Kablo Donanımları San. ve Tic. A.Ş. represents Kütahya.

Eskinazi: "The Aegean Region strengthened its position on the list"

Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of Aegean Exporters Associations, called it gratifying that 75 companies from İzmir and 113 from the Aegean Region are included in the Istanbul Chamber of Industry's Top 500 Turkish Industrial Enterprises Survey, and expressed his wish for the number of Aegean companies on this list to increase in 2021. Eskinazi noted the joy of seeing many companies that were on ISO's second 500 list in 2019 move to the top 500 this year, stating: "In 2019, 160 Aegean companies were on the Turkish Exporters Council's top 1,000 exporters list. Our joy would double if a similar increase were to occur on the TIM top 1,000 exporters list. As EIB, we will continue to develop innovation, R&D and design-focused projects for sustainable exports. With the elimination of the Covid-19 virus through vaccination, we are fully confident that we will reach better positions in production and exports."
