Pluskim Kimya Plusol-R-102 Series Spray Polyurethane Systems

Spray polyurethane is a significant and rapidly growing segment of the polyurethane industry in Turkey and globally. Spray polyurethanes, typically used in the construction sector, are preferred for their fast application and superior insulation values. Spray polyurethane foams are fundamentally divided into two types: open-cell and closed-cell. Pluskim Kimya addresses the construction sector's spray polyurethane needs with its PLUSOL-R-101 'open-cell' and PLUSOL-R-102 'closed-cell' systems. In response to customer demands and sectoral developments, Pluskim Kimya conducts research and development on closed-cell spray polyurethane systems, offering a broad product range with free density intervals of 25–50 kg/m³ for different applications and uses. Systems engineered with special reaction profiles for roofs and walls exhibit properties including ease of application, low consumption, high mechanical strength, low thermal conductivity coefficient, low water absorption, high sound insulation, high fire resistance, and high chemical resistance. Closed-cell spray polyurethane systems consist of regular cells roughly filled with blowing agents. Due to the blowing agents contained within the cells, they exhibit very low thermal conductivity coefficients in the application area. As a result, spray polyurethane sprays provide high 'R-Value'—that is, thermal insulation—in the construction sector and in special applications. Pluskim Kimya uses blowing agents specifically developed with environmental responsibility. These blowing agents are HCFC-free and have low GWP (Global Warming Potentials) and ODP (Ozone Depletion Potentials) values. [caption id="attachment_104433" align="aligncenter"] Table 1. Strength-% deformation graph of 2-coat and 4-coat applications of the same spray at 10cm thickness[/caption]   When optimal application conditions are provided on different surfaces such as wood, concrete, and sheet metal, spray polyurethane exhibits high adhesion strength. This strength is achieved through the use of special polyols. The special polyols used provide high compressive strength after spray application when compared to their own density class. Under high loads, it can be reliably used in polyurea-substrate and concrete-substrate ground applications. Due to the resulting cross-links and polymer structure, it provides high dimensional stability under different conditioning conditions. As a result, spray polyurethane can remain on the surfaces where it is applied for long periods without damage from external factors and continues to perform its insulation function. Proper application conditions are necessary to ensure this durability. For good application, it is necessary to determine an appropriate spray machine that meets the required conditions and an application method suited to the purpose. Improperly applied spray will not achieve the desired effect. For example, 30 density spray from the PLUSOL-R-102 series was applied in 2-coat and 4-coat applications at 10cm thickness. At the end of application, a 20% difference was observed between the finished densities of the 2-coat and 4-coat applications, with the 4-coat application resulting in significantly higher material consumption. Fire resistance is quite important in both open-cell and closed-cell applications in the construction sector. This fire resistance classification varies by country and application point. Pluskim Kimya offers solutions in B1 and B2 fire resistance classes according to DIN 4102 and with different smoke emission values suitable for residential areas.
