FoamOut BG 0087 Pre-Emulsified Mineral Oil-Based Defoamer

As is well known, mineral oil-based defoamers are preferred in water-based paint production due to both cost advantages and lower risk of surface defects compared to other types. When 100% solids mineral oil products come into contact with water in the paint kettle, they function as emulsions. One of the main factors determining how effectively a defoamer will eliminate foam is the droplet size of the emulsified defoamer. Droplet size is influenced both by factors controllable by the manufacturer in the formulation—such as the nature of the mineral oil used, emulsifiers employed, and hydrophobic content—as well as by factors beyond the defoamer manufacturer's control in the paint kettle, such as the wetting agent preferred by the consumer, binder (due to emulsifiers in its content), thickener, and mixer speed. This situation can sometimes cause the defoamer to exhibit a different distribution from the optimum droplet size when entering the paint kettle, resulting in failure to deliver expected performance. As DYK Kimyevi, we carefully designed BG 0087 to prevent this situation. BG 0087 is a mineral oil-based active defoamer produced by emulsifying it to achieve optimum droplet size distribution during manufacturing. Since the active ingredient is already emulsified—in other words, emulsified before entering the paint kettle rather than upon entering it—it is minimally affected by conditions and chemicals in the paint kettle. Thanks to being a stable emulsion, it distributes at optimum droplet size and defoams most effectively in the paint kettle. Contrary to common perception regarding pre-emulsified defoamers, it absolutely does not exhibit phase separation during storage. Figure 1. All water-based paints and coatings containing these binders. Putties. Acrylic and silicate plasters. Water-based adhesives. All types of emulsions. Application and Use Does not cause surface defects such as crawling. Requires no mixing since it does not exhibit phase separation. It defoams effectively not only during production but also maintains its effectiveness in the paint for extended periods, continuing to work effectively during paint application to surfaces. Can be used without issues together with other additives. Effectively breaks foam across a wide pH and temperature range. Recommended usage level is 0.1–0.3% based on the final product weight.
