Clariant Completes Color Range of "Super Transparent" Pigment Preparations

Clariant is introducing Hostatint™ A 100-ST, a series of super-transparent preparations based on halogen-free pigments, to create striking metallic and metallic effects and provide new shades for the surface and contour enhancements desired in today's lifestyle products. Presented at the 2017 European Paints Raw Materials and Coatings Trade Fair, the new Hostatint A 100-ST series contains nine ready-to-use, super-transparent pigment preparations that provide a colour circle for solvent-based paint systems. Very fine pigment particles, excellent dispersion and long-term stability create the prerequisite conditions for enhancing effects with a colour intensity that exhibits high resistance to light and air conditions similar to paints and shows no migration or paint defects. In addition to Hostatint A 100-ST performance advantages, it also assists the coatings industry by expanding manufacturers' creative options. Halogen-free pigment molecules meet the industry's restrictions against halogen content, supporting the formulation of bright green shades for original equipment manufacturers (OEM). Industrial coatings with the super transparency of Hostatint A 100-ST can also be used to increase the visibility of a substrate such as glass, wood or metal, adding quality appeal to applications. Super-transparent coloured coatings that are almost invisible over a black substrate are particularly effective in emphasizing black/colour contrast. Hostatint A 100-ST pigment preparations are easy and safe to use. Low fluidity values; highly compatible with solvent-based paint systems and feature a very high flash point that ensures safer storage, transport and handling. The fact that Hostatint A 100-ST preparations are stable products contributes to a long shelf life. Metallic and metallic effect shades are becoming increasingly important for industrial applications ranging from mobile phones to bicycles and automobiles. There is also growing interest in the use of transparent applications used to enhance glass or wood surface properties. As a comprehensive series of pigment preparations, the new Hostatint A 100-ST provides rapid and flexible formulation of a wide range of colour shades for transparent applications. It also offers manufacturers a cost-effective solution to address new coating trends in market segments. The Hostatint A 100-ST series predominantly contains pigments that are halogen-free (chlorine or bromine) in their molecular formula. Bright green shades can be formulated to comply with halogen content restrictions in the electronics sector. ST preparations, complementing the broad range of Hostatint A 100, are based on a highly compatible aldehyde resin and a solvent with a flash point above 100°C. This results in safer transport, storage and handling.
