Skinification Trend Shapes the $590 Billion Global Cosmetics Market
The global cosmetics market is expected to grow by 5 percent annually to reach $590 billion by 2030. As Türkiye's cosmetics market continues to grow with a volume of approximately $3.3 billion, multi-functional products and science-based formulations stand out among the sector's new growth areas. With rising consumer awareness, the spread of the skinimalism trend, and skin health becoming central to the holistic beauty approach, the skinification approach plays a decisive role in the transformation of the cosmetics industry.

The integration of active ingredients prominent in skin care into hair care, makeup, body care and personal care products is reshaping product development processes. Growing demand for multi-functional formulas, scientifically backed claims and reliable ingredients is guiding brands' R&D and innovation efforts.

This transformation in the sector also forms the main agenda of the International Cosmetics Congress, which will be held for the 10th time this year by the Cosmetics Manufacturers and Researchers Association (KÜAD). The congress, to be held under the theme "Skinification of Cosmetics", will bring together scientists, manufacturers and industry professionals at Titanic Deluxe Belek in Antalya on 14–16 December.

Scientific approach will determine the sector's competitiveness
Noting that growth in the cosmetics sector presents significant opportunities for Türkiye, KÜAD Chairman of the Board Fuat Arslan drew attention to the importance of supporting Türkiye's production infrastructure with R&D investments and innovative formulations.

Arslan made the following statements on the matter:

"As the global cosmetics market grows, the benefits consumers expect from products are also diversifying. Türkiye's cosmetics market, which continues to post double-digit growth, is projected to significantly increase its volume in the coming years. The skinification approach is reshaping the boundaries between beauty and care categories, placing scientific evidence, safety and transparency at the center of product development processes. Supporting Türkiye's strong production infrastructure with R&D investments, innovative active ingredients and high value-added formulations will increase our competitiveness in the global market. At our congress, we will evaluate how the sector should prepare for this transformation, both in its scientific and commercial dimensions."

Scientific benefit comes to the fore in the cosmetics market
KÜAD Congress Chairman Serdar Mutaf also stated that the congress will be an important meeting point for the cosmetics sector to adapt to changing consumer expectations and new product development trends.

Mutaf shared the topics to be addressed under the theme "Skinification of Cosmetics" as follows:

"At our congress, which we will hold under the main theme of Skinification of Cosmetics, we will address the effects of the skinification approach on global and local markets, the integration of skin care actives into different product groups, multi-functional formulations, new-generation active ingredients in dermocosmetic products, sustainable formulations, changing consumer expectations, personalized care, and regulatory and safety assessments. Skinification is transforming not only skin care but all categories from makeup to hair care, and from body care to personal care. Active ingredients, multi-functional formulas and the skinimalism approach are now at the center of product development processes. At our congress, we will address this transformation in its scientific, commercial and regulatory dimensions, and create new areas of knowledge and collaboration between academia and industry."

International Cosmetics Congress will bring together sector stakeholders
The congress program will include scientific presentations by academics and speeches by international guests, as well as panels, hands-on workshops, R&D and formulation studies, and networking events. Participants will be able to share knowledge and experience by following different sessions over the course of three days.

The event, to be held at Titanic Deluxe Belek on 14–16 December, will bring together cosmetics manufacturers, raw material and packaging companies, academics, researchers, regulatory professionals and young scientists. Scientific papers, innovative projects and new collaborations will also be on the congress agenda.
