Sunar Yatırım Exports to More Than 110 Countries

Operating in the fields of agriculture, food and bioindustry for more than 50 years, Sunar Yatırım transforms agricultural raw materials into value-added products for different sectors through its integrated production structure and R&D investments. Exporting to more than 110 countries across six continents, the group aims to strengthen its position in international markets with an export volume exceeding 250 million dollars.
With more than half a century of experience in Türkiye's agriculture-based industry, Sunar Yatırım operates in the fields of food, flour and feed, vegetable oil, starch and starch-based products, and bioindustrial solutions. With a turnover exceeding 25 billion TRY and more than 1,300 employees, the group, which is among Türkiye's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises, focuses on increasing the added value of its products as well as production capacity in its export strategy.
Sunar Yatırım Chairman of the Board and CEO Mustafa Nuri Çomu stated that the group's export strategy is built on a holistic structure encompassing production, R&D and technology investments. Çomu said, "As Sunar Yatırım, we are strengthening our position in global markets today with our exports to more than 110 countries across 6 continents and our export volume exceeding 250 million dollars. In the coming period, our goal is to increase the added value of our products through our R&D and technology investments, while deepening our presence in existing markets and achieving a stronger position in new markets. We believe that sustainable growth in exports comes from offering not just a product to the market, but higher added value."
Accounting for 64 Percent of Türkiye's Corn Oil Exports
Sunar Yatırım's position in international markets also stands out with its share in Türkiye's corn oil and corn starch exports. The group accounts for 64 percent of Türkiye's corn oil exports and 29 percent of its corn starch exports.
Noting that the capability to develop products tailored to the market needs of different geographies holds an important place in their export strategies, Mustafa Nuri Çomu stated that they aim to reach new markets while strengthening their position in existing markets. Çomu said, "While strengthening our position in our current export markets, we aim to reach new markets with value-added products by closely following the needs of different geographies. We are shaping our R&D and technology investments in this direction, and we continue to carry the production and technology competence we have developed in Türkiye to global markets."
R&D Investments Support New Export Areas
In Sunar Yatırım's export-oriented growth strategy, R&D efforts play a role not only in developing new products but also in creating solutions for the needs of different sectors.
The R&D Center within Sunar Mısır was approved by the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2018 and, according to the company's statement, began operating as Türkiye's first and only R&D center in the starch sector. At the center, which has a technology infrastructure worth more than one million dollars, work is carried out on new product development, process improvement and customized solutions for different sectors. Transforming agricultural raw materials into higher value-added products is also among the center's priority areas of work.
The R&D Center, where 75 percent of researchers are women, supports the group's scientific and technological work with expert human resources.
New Investment Plans in Diyarbakır and Hungary
Sunar Yatırım is working on new investments to develop its production and export capacity. In line with its growth target in the feed sector, the group has started work on a 15 million dollar feed plant investment in the Diyarbakır Organized Industrial Zone, and is also carrying out projects aimed at strengthening its presence in the European market.
Mustafa Nuri Çomu stated that they aim to increase production capacity with the investment in Diyarbakır, and announced that they are also working on a new industrial investment project in Hungary. Çomu said, "We aim to become a bigger player in the feed sector. While increasing our production capacity with our investment in Diyarbakır, we are also carrying out a new industrial investment project in Hungary in order to strengthen our access to markets in Europe. We plan to initially produce sorbitol and polyols there."
Renewable energy investments supporting the group's production infrastructure also form part of its growth strategy. With solar power plant investments in Adıyaman, Çankırı, İzmir, Antalya and Eskişehir, the aim is to reach an installed capacity of over 100 MW by the end of the year.
Integrated Production Structure Supports Global Competitiveness
Sunar Yatırım's integrated production model, extending from agricultural raw material to final product, supports the group's operational capability and export capacity. Sunar Mısır's production of starch and starch-based products, Elita Gıda's vegetable oil operations, Sunar Un's production infrastructure, Sunar Yem's operations and the group's agricultural activities form a complementary value chain.
This structure, which covers different stages from raw material supply to product development, from production to quality control, contributes to the development of solutions for the changing needs of international customers.
New Products Introduced at Foodist 2026
As part of its export-oriented growth strategy, Sunar Yatırım introduced its newly developed products to industry professionals at Foodist 2026, held at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center on September 1-4, 2026.
Hüner Baklavalık Un (flour for baklava), Hüner Baklavalık Yağ (oil for baklava) and Sunar Profesyonel Kızartmalık Yağ (professional frying oil) for professional kitchens were introduced for the first time at the fair. Sunar Yağ's renewed packaging and corn starch-based bioplastic bags were also presented for the appreciation of business partners.
Noting that international fairs are important in terms of establishing direct communication with existing and potential export markets, Mustafa Nuri Çomu said they will continue to develop their product portfolio by closely following the needs of different markets. Çomu stated that they aim to carry Türkiye's production power to global markets with higher added value.
