Zorlu O&M Calibration Center Passes Unannounced Inspection
Zorlu O&M Calibration Centre established by Zorlu Enerji in Gaziantep has passed an unannounced inspection conducted by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Gaziantep Provincial Directorate and been found compliant on calibration matters.
Located in Gaziantep Region 3 Organized Industrial Zone, the Zorlu O&M Calibration Centre, an organization authorized to perform calibration and adjustment operations on G2.5–G4 and G6 type domestic natural gas meters, passed the unannounced inspection conducted by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Gaziantep Provincial Directorate with flying colours.
Following the unannounced inspection, Mehmet Akif Deniz, Director of Zorlu O&M Calibration Centre, made statements saying that Zorlu O&M established the first and only calibration centre in the East in Gaziantep, and continued as follows:
"We calibrate meters in accordance with standards set by the Metrology and Measuring Instruments Inspection Regulation. We conduct laboratory test work meticulously.
Following test operations, adjustment of meters found to be out of calibration is performed by our personnel who hold adjustment authorization certificates for measuring and measuring instruments repair and adjustment as authorized by the Ministry."
Deniz, who previously noted that all natural gas distribution companies in surrounding provinces and eastern regions had their meters sent to distant cities such as Istanbul, incurring significant logistics costs, stated: "With the activation of our Calibration Centre, meters, which are precision measurement equipment, can now be calibrated in our city.
Both time and significant financial costs have been prevented. Our Calibration Centre, which makes adherence to fundamental values a principle, did not leave unanswered the questions posed by Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Gaziantep Provincial Directorate authorities during the unannounced inspection, and at the same time has proven the importance it attaches to calibration and adjustment through the positive outcome of the inspection.
We wish to inform natural gas distribution companies who are not yet aware of this service. They can confidently send their equipment to our Calibration Centre for calibration," he said.
Capable of Serving 100,000 Meters Annually
The Calibration Centre, which completed authorization and inspection procedures by the end of 2017, has been performing calibration of diaphragm type natural gas meters coming from different provinces and districts of Turkey since January 2018. Built on a total of 1,200 square meters of open area and 600 square meters of enclosed space, the Zorlu O&M Calibration Centre has a capacity to serve 100,000 meters annually. Additionally, within the facility there is a closed storage area with a capacity of 30,000 meters to prevent meters from being exposed to sunlight or other weather conditions prior to test operations.Advertisement
