Wacker Expands Dispersion Production Capacity at Burghausen Plant

Annual Capacity to Increase by 60,000 Metric Tons

Wacker Chemie AG is expanding its existing polymeric binders production facilities in Germany. The Munich-based chemical company is currently installing an additional dispersion reactor at its Burghausen plant with an annual capacity of 60,000 metric tons. The project, with a budget of approximately EUR 25 million for production and local infrastructure expansion, is expected to be completed before year-end. The dispersions produced by Wacker are widely used in formulating low-odor and low-emission interior wall paints, but these products are also utilized in adhesive bandages, adhesives, carpet applications, and technical textile products. Additionally, they serve as raw material for the production of redispersible polymer powder for construction applications. Wacker manufactures these powders at its Burghausen production facility using spray-drying technology. Rudolf Staudigl, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wacker Chemie AG, commented on the investment amount: "Expanding our dispersion production in Burghausen is part of our strategy to achieve profitable growth through expansion of existing production facilities. The additional capacity will strengthen our position in the market as a producer of dispersions and redispersible polymer powders and help us meet our customers' continuously rising demand over the long term." In this way, Wacker is responding to globally increasing demand for high-quality polymer binders driven by worldwide trends such as urbanization, renovation, and energy efficiency. Along with the new reactor, the Wacker Group is also investing in the expansion and modernization of local infrastructure.
