"Green Deal from an Industry Perspective" Event Held An event titled "Green Deal from an Industry Perspective" was held online on 27 April to assess the impacts of regulations on green and digital transformation in the European Union on Turkish industry. The event addressed policy measures taken in combating the climate crisis, particularly the European Green Deal, and the critical importance of compliance with these regulations for the competitiveness of Turkish industry. Cevdet Alemdar, Member of the Board of TÜSİAD and Chair of the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Round Table, moderated the first session titled "Developments Highlighted Within the Scope of the European Green Deal". In this session, briefings were provided by Dr. Arda Onkök, Senior Leader of Trade Policy at Arçelik, on the Green Deal Industrial Plan; Selin Çobanoğlu Öz, Deputy Head of the European Union Department at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, on the Ecodesign Regulation for Sustainable Products; and Murat Kayıkçı, International Regulation and Compliance Manager at Vestel and Member of TÜRKBESD Energy Working Group, on the Right to Repair. The moderation of the panel titled "European Green Deal from an Industry Perspective" at the event was carried out by Dr. Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğlu, Member of the Board of TÜSİAD and Chair of the Industrial Policies and Investment Environment Round Table. The panel featured speakers Bahar Güçlü, Deputy Director General of International Agreements and EU at the Ministry of Commerce; Dr. Ali Murat Sürekli, Deputy Director General of Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Technology; Fatih Özkadı, Chair of the TÜSİAD Environment and Climate Change Working Group and Green Deal Task Force; and Efe Erdem, Chair of the TÜSİAD Next Generation Industry Working Group. Assessments from different perspectives were shared on the impacts of the European Green Deal on the competitiveness of Turkish industry. In his remarks, Cevdet Alemdar, Member of the Board of TÜSİAD and Chair of the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Round Table, stated: "We see different steps being taken worldwide to combat the climate crisis. The European Green Deal is undoubtedly the most important of these steps. The European Green Deal does not only affect the EU geography. It requires green transformation to be implemented in countries with which the EU has economic relations. From this perspective, the European Green Deal is also very important for our country. As TÜSİAD, we view the European Green Deal as an important framework. We can shape our sectors' green transformation strategies and their investment planning in this direction with the help of this framework." Dr. Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğlu, Member of the Board of TÜSİAD and Chair of the Industrial Policies and Investment Environment Round Table, made the following remarks on the subject: "We see focused strategies and action plans being implemented in many parts of the world in combating the climate crisis. With the European Green Deal, the EU and developed countries are taking action to achieve sustainability transformation in many fields and sectors, from trade and industry to agriculture and finance. To expand and deepen our trade with the EU, we must rapidly align with developments that shape competition rules. It is a necessity to closely monitor all policy measures implemented in the EU based on climate change mitigation targets and touching on different sectors and processes, in order to preserve our position in EU trade and our international competitiveness."
