IKMIB Chairman Adil Pelister:

İKMİB (Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association) Chairman of the Board Adil Pelister issued a written assessment of the third-quarter 2025 growth data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Istanbul Chemical Manufacturers and Exporters Association (İKMİB), issued a written assessment regarding the third quarter 2025 growth data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

In his assessment, Pelister stated:
"According to TÜİK data, our national economy grew 3.7% in the third quarter. Growth of 1.1% was achieved compared to the previous quarter. Among the factors contributing to growth in the third quarter, the 6.5% growth in the industrial sector stands out. Considering the role of the chemical sector within the industrial sector, we see that as a strategic sector supplying other sectors, it made significant contributions to growth. While we view the impact of domestic demand on growth positively, the slowdown in external demand and its negative effect on exports clearly demonstrates the impact of global developments on our overall exports. However, the performance of our chemical sector exports in the third quarter stands out positively compared to our overall exports. According to İKMİB data, during the July-September period this year, our chemical sector exports increased 16.65% compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 8.53 billion. This third quarter growth in the chemical sector also limited the negative impact on overall exports. The third quarter growth demonstrates that the chemical sector has strong fundamentals. Although fluctuations in global energy and raw material prices remain a significant risk, investments in our sector and green transition-focused projects will increase the sector's competitive strength. Investments prioritizing sustainability and circular economy in particular will support Turkey's future economic growth potential. Special incentives for our sector and favorable financing conditions for our exporters are of great importance. As a sector, we are aware of our strategic importance and are determined to be a driving force in achieving our country's high value-added production targets."
