"Women Who Feed the World" Project Reaches Over 24,000 People in Adana

The "Women Who Feed the World" project, launched in Adana with the support of the PepsiCo Foundation and in cooperation with CARE Turkey, has reached more than 24,000 people in total, including over 12,000 women, in nearly two years. While the project has made a significant contribution to the social and economic development of the region following the earthquake, women producers in the Ceyhan and Yüreğir districts have achieved notable progress in the production of potatoes, broccoli and corn.
The "Women Feeding the World" project, implemented in Adana with support from the PepsiCo Foundation and in partnership with CARE Turkey, reached more than 24,000 people, including over 12,000 women, in nearly two years. While the project made significant contributions to the social and economic development of the region following the earthquake, women producers in the Ceyhan and Yüreğir districts achieved notable progress in potato, broccoli and corn production.
Training and Grant Support for Women Farmers
Under the project, grants were provided to 450 women farmers and producers, while training was delivered on sustainable agriculture techniques, digital marketing and communication. Thousands of producers benefited from these trainings. PepsiCo Turkey General Manager Ergün Günay stated, "We aim to create a resilient food ecosystem by increasing women's participation in agriculture. Thanks to the cooperation we have conducted with CARE, local administrations and civil society organizations, we have gained significant momentum."

Production at Three Demo Farms
At three different demo farms implemented by CARE, a total of 169 women producers cultivated potatoes, broccoli and corn. These efforts aim to increase agricultural production diversity and productivity in the region.
Free Organic Fertilizer for 4,300 Farmers
Under the project, the composting facility in Yüreğir was renovated and began operating at full capacity. Organic fertilizers produced at the facility have been distributed free of charge to more than 4,300 farmers to date.
Mobile Seed Bus Coming
One of the new steps of the project, the Mobile Seed Bus, is preparing to hit the road to promote heritage seeds and provide training, particularly to women producers facing mobility restrictions.
Community Awareness Activities
Within the scope of nutrition awareness, one of the project's objectives, work conducted in Yüreğir and Ceyhan districts reached approximately 4,000 people. Additionally, through the "Men in the Kitchen" event, men learned recipes in professional kitchens and prepared meals for their families, contributing to the transformation of social norms.
A Global Program
The "Women Feeding the World" program, implemented through cooperation between the PepsiCo Foundation and CARE, has been carried out in eight countries to date. The project implemented in Adana in Turkey aims to create a safe and sustainable food network in rural areas by supporting small-scale women producers.
