Clariant Breaks Ground on New Healthcare Products Packaging Facility
Clariant has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Cuddalore, India, where it will produce moisture control products for use in the pharmaceutical industry.
Clariant strengthens its position in global manufacturing with healthcare packaging plant groundbreaking in India
Clariant has laid the foundation for a new manufacturing facility in Cuddalore, India, where it will produce moisture control products for use in the pharmaceutical industry. In December 2015, Clariant announced an investment of CHF 10 million in the facility, contributing to India's growing pharmaceutical sector. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Clariant Executive Board Member Christian Kohlpaintner, said: "We view our new healthcare packaging production facility in Cuddalore as an important step to strengthen our growth in the region. Through our investments, we aim to provide solutions to our customers' needs as quickly as possible". The facility will produce desiccant caps and packets for pharmaceutical packaging that protects shelf life and controls moisture in medicines. The moisture prevention area will comply with Clean Room Class 100,000 and ISO 8 standards. The area will also meet all applicable cGMP and FDA standards in the United States.Existing Capacity in the Region to Expand with This Production Facility
Clariant India Regional Head Deepak Parikh, said: "With our new facility, we will meet the growing demand from our customers for first-class desiccant materials. With this production facility, we will expand our existing capacity in the region and easily reach our current and potential customers in pharmaceutical packaging." With the new facility to be built in Cuddalore, Clariant will support its "Produce in India, Sell in India" strategy, adding one more facility to its ten production plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and its Innovation Centre in Mumbai. The facility is expected to open in 2017.
