Turkey's first independent centre in the steel sector began providing industrial testing and analysis services as of June. Turkey's first independent research and development and technology centre in the steel sector, the Steel Testing and Research Centre provides mechanical testing, chemical analysis, and product and material characterisation services, contributing to the development of main industries using steel. The services provided within ÇETAM will enable the elimination of non-tariff technical barriers such as certification and testing requirements that sector companies face in exports. In addition to certification testing, the centre will play an active role in solving sector challenges through its infrastructure that enables material and process development. Moreover, ÇETAM will contribute to increased cooperation and development of innovative projects by providing knowledge and technology transfer to industrial establishments. Matil A.Ş. General Manager Doç. Dr. Hüseyin Soykan, expressing satisfaction at completing the Steel Testing and Research Centre project, which they have worked on with great effort for approximately three years, stated: "We have completed the physical installation of our centre, which received support from the Istanbul Development Agency, at ITU Maslak Campus. As of June, we began providing industrial testing and analysis services. In all processes, we operate in accordance with quality management and laboratory accreditation systems, impartiality, independence, integrity, confidentiality and reliability principles. We believe that our Steel Testing and Research Centre, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will strengthen our sector's hand in international competition and facilitate the transition to high-value-added product manufacturing," he said.Advertisement
