Bosch to Invest in Expanding Chip Production
The company plans to invest USD 1.5 billion in TSI Semiconductors' California facility to increase silicon carbide chip production.
German engineering company Bosch announced it will acquire US-based chip manufacturer TSI Semiconductors and invest USD 1.5 billion to increase silicon carbide chip production.
According to a statement from the company, Bosch plans to acquire the assets of US chip manufacturer TSI Semiconductors, headquartered in Roseville, California.
The statement noted that Bosch plans to invest more than USD 1.5 billion in TSI Semiconductors' Roseville facility in coming years and to upgrade TSI Semiconductors' production facilities with cutting-edge technology.
According to the statement, production is expected to begin in 2026, and Bosch will expand its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips.
The statement emphasizes that Bosch is systematically strengthening its semiconductor business and will significantly expand its global silicon carbide chip portfolio by the end of 2030.
The statement indicated that the planned investment will benefit from federal funding opportunities and state incentives under the CHIPS Act, which was signed by US President Joe Biden on 9 August 2022 and went into effect to increase semiconductor production.
